@RJmdphilly @AlanJCard @projsolve As a PhD, I have come to appreciate IRBs. They dont have to be barriers, IRBs have helped me improve methodology and outcomes.
@projsolve Q4 - I agree with the financial and admin barriers mentioned but another barrier is that our product and clientele are expert medical care/interventions and patients, respectively. This raises questions of safety and ethics that don't exist for a burger or a robot. #solvechat
@projsolve A1 - 1) to get the feedback necessary to improve on the original design and plan 2) to to build efficiency 3) to improve confidence and the ability of staff to respond to unforeseen issues. #solvechat
@RJmdphilly@gretchendiemer As far as listening and curiosity, maybe finding a way for patient's to record questions, journal, etc? That way we could hear from them more often than just rounds. We'd be more aware of their concerns. #SolveCHAT
@projsolve Unfortunately, I think we find out about problems after there are complications or they have reached urgent/emergent levels. Maybe part of this is because our time with patients is limited as discussed earlier and when we are there, we aren't always THERE. #SolveCHAT
A2 - I was struck by what sounded like the callousness of the doctor that told him he would never walk again. From a human perspective he wasn't ready to hear that from someone he didn't know. From a rehab perspective he was too pessimistic at that point. #SolveCHAT
@projsolve Exactly! Like how driving slower in the left lane leads to more lane changes which lead to more accidents. The lack of creativity in medicine under the guise of "safety" may actually be harming patients more. #SolveCHAT

@BScoblionko@kukushk62702900. I think I'm more creative when I'm more comfortable. When my mind can wander and there is more space for imagination. #SolveCHAT
@greg_hansonIR Homeownership definitely breeds creativity... theres always a project, always something to do without an established structure. #SolveCHAT
Q1. Two times stick out. 1) High school- endless possibilities and enthusiasm, then 2) Grad school- enough expertise and tools to execute novel ideas. #SolveCHAT
