Oyibo is not a Yoruba word. I was born and brought up in Yorubaland as an Edo man. My father couldn't even speak our Edo language until he died; he spoke only Yoruba. I can speak and understand any type of Yoruba because I grew up in a typical Yoruba village in Ondo State. The older generation of Yorubas didn't call white people "oyibo"; they called them "awon alawo fufu," meaning "those with white skin." Only the younger generation of Yorubas calls white people oyibo. We should stop lying to ourselves.
Why are you people doing this? Since when did “Oyibo” become an Igbo word? That term has been used for centuries, dating back to early trade and contact with Europeans. Why not take pride in your own history and share it, instead of trying to claim the history of others?
It is literally a Yoruba word. Is this even supposed to be a debate? This needs to stop.
We are here. To Almighty God be all the glory. It has been a very long, tedious, daunting and difficult path. We thank everyone for the support. This, by the will of God, will be for us and generations to come. Ya Allah make it beneficial for our country and humanity 🇳🇬🤲🏽🤲🏽🤲🏽🇳🇬
