@GregBernhardt4@KyleRisley@ShopifyDevs Itโs not a resource and itโs not a link I want to use. Merchants wouldnโt never use it as itโs too technical.
The wording is something like โhttps://t.co/H5ry2GVGRQ compatibleโ and โhttps://t.co/H5ry2GVGRQ based structured dataโ
I appreciate the idea though
LOL @ShopifyDevs is making me remove https://t.co/H5ry2GVGRQ from my app listing because it's a URL. It's also the organization's name. I'm not trying to manipulate your app listing page or anything like that. FFS
@supremerumham@ShopifyDevs I agree with the policy as itโs intended. I also had to remove a Shopify url in one of my screenshots. But this is the governing body that sets the rules for how structured data is used. I mean itโs their name that just so happens to be a url. Itโs frustrating
@KyleRisley@ShopifyDevs I ended up doing schema dot org so weโll see if that appeases them.
I agree with the policy the way itโs intended but this feels like overkill. Just no thought possible exceptions that are legit reasons for a URL
@TRPage_dev@gilgNYC Nearly lost a client because analytics access was required just to check on their Markets settings.
Found out by turning on and off different permissions in a dev store to see what triggered the access.
I only ask for what's required, never more!
@TRPage_dev@gilgNYC +1 came to say this. I've asked for support for this a few times. It's unclear which settings are needed as a collaborator for certain features in Shopify. For example, for some reason, Markets requires access to Reporting, which I don't "need" but it's required
@mag_krom@KyleRisley I know @JarnoVanDriel has set up the SD to work for tracking, but I don't think he's gone beyond that.
Analytics with SD isn't widely documented and I have not explored it myself, but I want to.
What exactly are you wanting to track in GA?
@mag_krom@KyleRisley Shopifys combined listings shows them as one product, bue I'm not clear what you're trying to accomplish here. Are you wanting to show all the options (eg color, size, material)? If so, it's not native to Shopify. Use an app like JSON-LD for SEO or code it in yourself
@mag_krom@KyleRisley I mean, all Shopify themes have SD, but at the level you want, you're going to either need to use an app like JSON-LD for SEO, Tag Manager (which likely requires customization too) or code it in yourself.
@mag_krom@KyleRisley SD and Feeds work together. GMC will digest your feed and validate it with the landing page and SD. They also allow you to use the SD instead of the product feed, but it's not quite there yet.
By tracking, do you mean GA? That's a whole different animal
@mag_krom@KyleRisley To be really clear though, in Brodieโs screenshot, showing the color in Rich Results is currently driven by the product feed for GMC, not structured data though I wouldnโt be surprised if that changes in the near future.
@mag_krom@KyleRisley To go even further, you can also add custom linked data (the LD in JSON-LD) to add more context at the variant level.
