Politically homeless lobbyist | Proud to regularly piss off the uniparty, corporations, & trad lobbyists | Exploring how seemingly opposing worlds can align
Those who study policy (not same as politics) know:
You don’t evaluate a system by its stated intentions.
You look past those & ask what it consistently produces, and who it protects.
When the same “problems” keep showing up, it’s not unintended consequences.
It’s by design.
@jbryanporter@mikebeckhamsm These playoff games were exciting to watch.
I’m not even much of a basketball fan but I loved the excitement.
I love the thermos, it would make a few people around me jealous. The best part is that it would get a few people’s hackles up lol.
@fentanylok@JuliaKirt@epogeokc Kratom shops in Ponca and other northern cities in Okla (along with towns along other state lines) will be kept busy.
I really wish as a country we required any law/policy to use science over emotion &/or narrative. And track actual outcomes either way. Asking too much, I know.
@MaryBethO_ Thank you for saying this so clearly.
Unfortunately this language shift and redefinition was intentional, as it was necessary to facilitate the preferred narrative.
#Addiction requires negative consequences. Which is why, per the DSM, tolerance and withdrawal do not count toward diagnosis when opioids are taken as prescribed. Because the meds should have a positive impact. That's why they've been prescribed. #harmreduction
@visegrad24 My great grandparents came to that town from Poland to join other family members already there.
They moved south in the 50s and I’m pretty sure all the rest have left as well.
I’ve heard stories about how great it was (and some not so great)
@kemalwhyte And IMO, it’s not even just that.
If a wealthy family or community member wants to pay high priced lobbyists & fund a few campaigns, their wishes likely prevail over science & common sense.
That MIGHT be mitigated IF those benefiting from it are in near constant contact w/reps.
@esmereldamarie6@okiepatriot_76 We had a shop in Guthrie last time this was a serious convo.
We would have faced the same situation.
Only other option was to increase our prices by enough to cover it, but my data said a 25% increase would lose me 30% of my customer base accounting for 44% of my sales.
Nope!
@grok@Li72Xia@visegrad24 Can you share a list of products stored or suspected to be stored in this location?
I’m curious which med products are about to skyrocket in price and or become more difficult to find, specifically any Rx meds already on the low supply lists?
@peppersagooddog@LamiereT@shaunvlog_ Thanks for the tips!!
I am definitely the most spontaneous person I know, so if I can make a few details line up I very well may jump in the car one morning.
I drove w/n an hour of both in 2008 and couldn’t stop. Same with Grand Canyon. Regretted not stopping since.
Oooo!! That alone seems like a good reason to visit since I’m not excited by gambling or even shows!!
It’s funny, I looked at the driving time of the Hoover Dam earlier today, curious if I could go see the massive flag draped over it before it’s removed. 16.5hrs w/zero stops. Prob not.
Probably not 100% ONLY and without exception, but with regards to what kind of tea I can find, the world is different above 1-70 for sure!
Recently spent 2 weeks in Denver. Ate out 2x a day. Found TWO places w/sweet tea that wasn’t peach or raspberry. The tea at the 2 I found weren’t near as sweet as it is at home either.
Outside of a few 7/11s I never found one in central WA state, in 3.5 weeks of meetings and traveling around daily.
DC seems to be a major exception, but even then it often wasn’t as sweet and wasn’t as readily available.
I’m hoping the more I travel the more I find where to get it. My recent trip to Denver was the first time I’d eaten Red Robin or Culver’s and those both had it. One better than the other.
@generativist I buy mult size/width straws off Amazon carry them with me in a cloth zipup bag when I travel.
Even in Okla where we still have plastic straws, they are getting cheaper & closer to 💩.
My last trip to DC I had people in the 7/11 by my hotel asking ME for REAL straws daily.
An Iranian refugee friend who fled w/her family decades ago said that based on how much intel Isreal and the US had for highly targeted operations on IRGC & leaders over the last year, she believes there is a good portion of their regular army building & training citizens w/a few high level IRGC ready to defect with them after extracting all possible intel & causing as much chaos in the ranks.
I’ve tried to ignore all the posturing in our ‘news’ that happens in updates from both sides, they are both almost comically caricatures of what’s really happening. Iran says they shot down xyz and US says we destroyed abc. None of it adds up. US is closer than Irans version and ours is also far more supported by reality or proof than theirs, but it’s still bad.
I mention that because I think either those involved with a plan for a coup keep our key leaders out of the loop or maybe our leaders spew this stuff to get public support but also keep Iran off guard? Idk. It all seems like a mess and I feel so helpless outside of praying for the innocent people of & from Iran & those supporting them.
@LamiereT@shaunvlog_ Omg, that’s like never having country fried steak lol!
I have found the refills aren’t often free too. That one caught me by surprise as did learning most take away cups (convenience store or fast food) are less than 20oz.
In Okla & TX, a small is 20, lg is 44oz, goes to 64oz!
@Based_AFSpect8r@visegrad24 I feel the same as CNDNC who also responded to you.
I do expect it to fall. I don’t think it will be a clean sweep & I fear there won’t be a dry street in the country once it’s started.
I also know those who I speak to in person who’ve fled over last 45yrs say it must & will.
