Intel Capital

A force multiplier for early stage startups - inspiring and investing in the future of compute.

[Intel Capital @intelcapital]

35 years of Intel Capital investing in compute and the next wave of transformative technology 🚀

Since 1991, we’ve deployed over $20B into 1,800+ startups, supporting founders whose innovations have shaped industries and set global standards. From landmark exits like @AsteraLabs, @jobyaviation, @VMware, and @RedHat to recent investments in @anyscalecompute, @fieldai_, @Figure_robot, @Minio, @runpod, and many more, we continue shaping the future of compute.

Our focus remains on #AI, #deeptech, cloud-native infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and the broader foundry ecosystem. Programs like the Embedded Expert Program (ExP) and global portfolio events provide founders with the expertise, resources, and networks to scale faster and smarter.

The journey continues, supporting founders and technologies that will define the future of compute. More on our journey and vision in Anthony Lin's blog: https://t.co/w2V51SGFbQ

CBO of @EPICMicrosystems, Aashish Malhotra was interviewed by @pulse2news on the #power delivery bottleneck in #AI infrastructure. A rack takes in 48V DC while the GPU runs at roughly 0.75V, and EPIC's Hybrid Switch Cap architecture aims to balance efficiency, current density, Z-height, and thermals for Vertical Power Delivery. The first silicon came in 2025.

This week, @Interesting_Eng reported that @Figure_robot's Figure 03 walked 348 miles and logged 1.2M steps over nine consecutive days on a treadmill. CEO @adcock_brett said the test began as a side project to stress the robot and surface hardware failures, a more demanding check of reliability than a short demo.

A new blog from @lightbitslabs' Arthur Rasmusson argues that $/GPU/hr is the wrong metric for #AI #inference. Two providers with identical GPU pricing can differ by more than 2x in cost per million tokens, because on long-context traffic much of a GPU hour goes to re-running prefill on sessions the fleet has already seen.

Co-founder of @OxideComputer Bryan Cantrill (@bcantrill) spoke with @TBPN about venture capital's relationship with untraditional bets. His observation: investors say they want contrarian ideas, but few commit when the bet could plausibly return nothing.

"Everybody loves contrarian. But no one actually wants a zero."

Oxide co-founder @bcantrill believes every VC wants to be contrarian, but most get cold feet when an actual contrarian bet is staring them in the face.

CTO of @OxideComputer, Bryan Cantrill (@bcantrill), spoke to @MTSLive about why economics, more than technology, determines which sci-fi futures actually arrive. Using the Concorde as an example, he argues that a technology can solve one problem while creating others society isn't willing to accept, and that efficiency and cost drive outcomes more than people tend to credit.

Watch the full clip below:

[MTS @MTSlive]

Oxide CTO @bcantrill says the future is full of things we can build but still won’t, because economics kills more sci-fi dreams than technology does:

"What does powerful even mean? We've already accelerated ourselves into science fiction as far as I'm concerned. This is science fiction. Let's call it what it is."

"I'm a bullseye Gen X-er. I've got my space Lego set. We were gonna have moon colonization. We were gonna have flying cars. We were gonna have jet packs. We were gonna have supersonic travel everywhere. None of that has come to fruition."

"My grandfather flew in a Concorde exactly once. He said it was very uncomfortable. It solves one problem, but it creates a bunch of other problems that we as a society are not that interested in. We don't want sonic booms all the time."

"Efficiency matters. The cost matters. The economics matter. People get divorced from the actual economics of these things, and economics is the driver of everything. Sometimes people chalk up to politics what is actually economics."
