The President of Jubaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, met at the Presidential Palace with the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia, Mr. George Conway, and his delegation, to assess the impact of the ongoing drought in Jubaland. He stated that more than 1.5 million people have been directly affected, with thousands of livestock lost, severely damaging livelihoods. The President warned that the drought may worsen without urgent international assistance and called on the international community, Somalis, and the diaspora to support immediate relief efforts to prevent famine, stressing that water and food shortages are the most critical challenges
