Yesterday, Hon. Minister @CNkulikiyinka chaired a Public-Private Dialogue on Rwanda's tea sector.
Tea companies, cooperatives, and partners came together to discuss job creation, decent work, and sustainable growth. Key points:
-The sector's role in rural employment, household livelihoods, and foreign exchange earnings
-Improving productivity, market access, and value addition
-Attracting youth and skilled professionals
The Minister emphasized strengthening labour standards across the value chain - safe working conditions, fair practices, social protection, and worker welfare.
Good practices highlighted included social security contributions, employment contracts, medical insurance, and ECD centers.
The dialogue reaffirmed Government of Rwanda's commitment to working with stakeholders to create sustainable jobs and decent work in the tea sector, with the private sector playing the leading role as the main employer.

Happening now: Hon. Minister @CNkulikiyinka led the observance of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, bringing together stakeholders including @RSSB_Rwanda, @WHO, @RBCRwanda and @PSF_Rwanda to reflect on advancing safe, healthy, and productive workplaces across all sectors.
Held under the theme "Promoting wellness at work for sustainable productivity" the event, highlighted the critical link between employee well being and institutional performance. Discussions emphasized that occupational safety and health goes beyond the prevention of workplace accidents to include physical health, mental and psychosocial well-being, inclusive work environments, and strengthened organizational practices that support work life balance and employee engagement.
The engagement further underscored the importance of strengthening prevention mechanisms, enhancing
compliance with safety standards, and reinforcing a culture of safety at all levels. It also highlighted the role of Occupational Safety and Health Committees in identifying risks and promoting workplace well-being.
Hon. Minister @CNkulikiyinka reaffirmed a collective commitment to promoting workplace wellness as a strategic investment in productivity, institutional resilience, and national development, while strengthening partnerships to ensure safe, healthy, and dignified working environments for all.

This morning, Hon. Minister @CNkulikiyinka chaired a high-level consultative meeting with the PSF Service Chamber under the Public-Private Delivery (PPD) Framework for Employment Promotion. The discussion brought together @PSF_Rwanda representatives and key industry stakeholders to identify strategies for expanding the services sector, creating jobs, and enhancing workforce skills. Key areas of collaboration include promoting industry led training, providing youth with workplace learning opportunities like apprenticeships and internships as well as aligning curricula with labour market needs.
The services sector, accounting for 44.4% of total employment, was highlighted as a major driver of economic growth and job creation. Hon. Minister @CNkulikiyinka encouraged participants to share practical ideas to strengthen public-private partnerships and ensure Rwanda's youth access sustainable and meaningful employment opportunities.

As part of its labour inspection and compliance mandate, @RwandaLabour has strengthened inspections across Rwanda since 1st January 2026 to promote compliance with labour laws, protect workers' rights and prevent child labour, while ensuring safe and lawful workplaces.

Public servants are receiving a practical introduction to AI, including the opportunities it unlocks, responsible use, data protection, and human oversight.
Public servants who have not yet taken the course are encouraged to do so before the end of the month.
In the workshop organized by the African Union in collaboration with MIFOTRA, Clement Kabiligi, Permanent Secretary at MIFOTRA, @ClementKabiligi emphasized that the African Charter on Values and Principles of Public Service and Administration seeks to strengthen governance systems, promote professionalism, uphold ethical conduct, prevent and combat corruption, and ensure that public service delivery remains citizen-centered, accountable, and transparent. He described the Charter as a tool to “reaffirm that effective and ethical institutions are indispensable to sustainable development and an improved quality of life for our citizens.”
