For the last days, I've been sharing the Company Dives of my personal holdings.
Here is a summary of these overviews.
Let me know what you think about my portfolio!

@guy_schellekens@FromValue I gave two points where I see a difference between a self driving car and a plane, but this might be point 3, I dont really trust Elon ;)
I agree that I had the same in a plane, but there are two differences: 1) it's hard to hit anything in the air, but on the road a child can just cross the road or another car does something irrational and 2) there is a human pilot instead of a "robot" driving me. For some reason I trust a trained pilot more than a piece of software, which might also be irrational
I do like the idea of paying taxes to support that specific thing, like tax on gasoline to pay for roads. The issue with VAT and no income tax is that there is no progressive taxing. That it is of course a choice. Everybody pays the same amount. You could argue that higher incomes could pay a bit more taxes. How do you look at that?
I get your point. I'm from the Netherlands and often thinking about what a fair way to tax is. Often in these discussions I understand the point, but if you would for example get rid of income tax, the other taxes would just get higher. Of course you can play around with it and make some people pay more than others, or as you say steer people's decisions, but in the end when the government is not getting smaller, they need the same income. I think there should first be a discussion on what tasks a government should have, what it costs and then look at how you going to raise that money.
Thanks for sharing! I have to say, I'm not from the US, but from the Netherlands, which from a US standpoint would be considered quite socialistic if it comes to social security, healthcare etc. For us it's the norm.
I'm the first to admit that the government is far from efficient, but my opinion is that giving all responsibilities to private companies would be too much. I think that you have to divide the tasks that need to be done for a country (or city) as a whole should be divided by what do you want to vote on as a people. It's hard to steer a company in a direction once it's operational. I think the biggest difference between left and right is if you believe these task have to be done publicly or privately. It also has to do with solidarity, which is quite important in the Netherlands. For example, we have mandatory health insurance, so that people who don't need healthcare pay for people who do. That is a choice you can make as a society.
Your story gives me the impression that you want to bring back a community to a very small one so you don't have to pay for others in very different situations/locations. I get the point, but I think that as a nation you do have to make choices on how you want to solve these nationwide issues together. If that makes sense
@DracovishC@SnakeHoppe So if taxation is theft you imply that it's illegal and should be stopped right? What is the plan then how to get these public goods as roads, plumbing, education organized and paid for? I'm sincerely curious
Woke up this morning with 200 followers! Thanks everybody!
I love the connections, the interesting posts everybody shares and meaningful interactions in the comments.
@QualCompounders Great advice. I think there is even a layer above that. It all depends on how much time and effort you want to spend. None at all: just go with some broad ETFs. Some: follow your advice
