🧂 A successful morning at the @Europarl_EN!
Today, at the breakfast event hosted by MEP Stefan Köhler @KoehlerS9 with the support of Iodine Coalition Europe, policymakers, health professionals, and industry stakeholders gathered to discuss the need for harmonised policies on iodised salt across Europe.
💡 Key takeaways:
- #Iodinedeficiency remains a public health issue (partially due to changing diets) - iodised salt is a simple, effective solution.
- Clear labelling regulations and regulatory alignment are needed to ensure consumer access.
- Collaboration between industry and policymakers is essential to tackle this issue across all EU Member States.
A big thank you to the speakers Joyce Greene (@iodineglobal), Sarah Bath, Michael Durst and Urs Christoph Hofmeier and to all participants for an insightful discussion!
