@AngrySchneider_@KeeganMatheson To be fair, a pick-off at third is rare (so people might not expect it) and very valuable (worth pretty close to a whole run).
If they've found a cool gap in modern run games that is worth say .3 of a run every time somebody is on third, I'm not mad at that.
@AussieSamizdat@Aella_Girl Both sentences make it very clear that she doesn't care who it is because it's not significant to her.
I'd like to play baseball and I don't care if I find the opposing pitcher annoying so long as they follow the rules and I can get some real ABs
For her, sex is like that
@Tcukerr@JohnnyGiunta_ best *qualified* hitter. Valenzuela and Pinango have been around long enough that I feel comfortable saying they're our best hitters.
Still Ernie's a dog
@dontdoxx2@Aella_Girl The way you put it, my mind goes straight to game-design.
There are a lot of people in charge of balancing games like MMOs, FPSs even open-world RPGs who face (and sometimes alleviate) the same problems of steering (not forcing) people in the direction(s) they want
@RusselProuse34 On this app to complain about the same thing.
I'm all for advertising, it pays for the game. But when the ball disappears and the ump's arm is flickering, there is no game to watch
@JimmyFingers19@JaysViews It's actually pretty simple with bbref, so I'll start the conversation: Vladdy over the same last 6 had:
4 R
6 H
4 BB
2 RBI
1 SB
.300/.407/.300
The guy's on base more often, but less pop
Last year the guy was slashing .292/.381/.467, so we traded some pop for OBP
@soiadave73@BlueJays player to be named later is often "you can have anybody not in our top 10 prospect list 6 months from now".
That said, sometimes teams are on a contract in which the player can request a trade if they aren't playing enough, or they just need a salary dump.
@yoshiboost@Bennett_F7 Just getting on base more than anybody not named pinango?
There are people in WAY bigger slumps than our .370 on-base .730 OPS gold-glove 1st baseman
@CanisOcculatus@derekdfulton@MariosGeorgakis survivor bias doesn't exactly agree.
In a sports league where value = (skill * height) and everybody has the same-ish value, you would guess a short player has more skill.
But doctor skill =/= (health + doctor skill) and the bad ones are not weeded out like nba.
Literally all of politics is a re-hashing of the age old question "do you believe people can change"
The left believes the answer is yes to a fault and the right believes the answer is unequivocally no unless there's a god involved
@hyphen18 and Tyler Maun of @MLBNetwork need some clarification on Canada's hockey culture:
Other countries historically put the dominant hand on the bottom.
Canadian hockey players are taught to put their dominant hand on TOP, so righties are left shots.

@Bohemoth@orioninc_ng@elonmusk Most countries have labor laws that require you to employ people in your country unless you can prove that no suitable candidate has applied.
It's not racist and xenophobic to raise your country's employment rate and strengthen local economies, it's just good management
@Fabian_Avery@_LostReaver@JohnDahliaX@PitchingNinja But to his credit, pitchers would also be making more mistakes if people battled them -- skubal at 70 pitches thrown vs skubal at 100 pitches thrown are different beasts
@AmandaAskell@ArtirKel YMMV but in my world it's a person who might be given a coding task. People use it all the time to say "Keep it high level, you'll be presenting to non-technical management" or "I'm not the technical guy, so if you have any specific questions I'll give you __'s number"
@rowdyamerican69@DefiantLs It sounds a lot like she is just acknowledging the fact that couples (men&women) make the decision on whether to have a kid together.
Elon musk is another big proponent of birth rate = success, but Behn realizes that birth rate is tied to satisfaction economically/politically
