RCC Secretary General @amer_kap opening the “What Do We Ask of the Next Generation? Film, Democracy and Regional Competitiveness” discussion at Second Regional Conference on Youth Cultural Cooperation organised by the RCC’s WBYL project in cooperation with the #SarajevoFilmFestival.

“Creative industries matter to our economies, as they contribute roughly 3 to 5% of GDP and around 3.5% of employment. This is not a marginal sector, as it already has a real economic impact, and that is what makes it important for regional cooperation. But as youth unemployment in our region still stands at around 25 to 30%, creative industries can also give young people careers built on their own skills and ideas,” said RCC SG during his opening remarks.

Ahead of the panel bringing together representatives of European and regional institutions and film sector, @LSorecaEU, @eubih Ambassador also delivered introductory remarks and gave an EU perspective.

The panel also gathered young artists from art academies of the #WesternBalkansSix, participants from the SFF’s Talents Sarajevo and emerging filmmakers who contributed with their own perspectives.

🎬 Second Regional Conference on Youth Cultural Cooperation, organised by RCC’s #WBYL2 project in partnership with the #SarajevoFilmFestival opened in #Sarajevo today

During the next 5 days more than a dozen emerging filmmakers and film students from across the #WesternBalkansSix are taking part in screenings, masterclasses, industry exchanges, workshops, networking and conversations with leading names from the world of cinema.

“Talent is personal, but it rarely grows alone. It needs opportunity, space and other talented people around it. This is why we wanted to go one step further this year. We are giving young people from across our region the chance to meet, learn, exchange ideas and build relationships. Stories shape how we see one another, and giving a new generation the space to tell their own stories is one of the most meaningful investments we can make,” said RCC Secretary General @amer_kap opening the conference.

By combining screenings, professional exchange, access to international expertise and opportunities to build contacts, the Conference aims to provide young filmmakers with ⏭️ access to people, ideas, audiences and opportunities.

5th Bridging the Gap Conference organised by @europeanparliament, @eu_enlargement_ and @rccint’s EU Funded Western Balkans Youth Lab 2 project took place in Brussels.

🇪🇺 Democracy, disinformation, AI and mental health: these were some of the key topics discussed 🤝 as parliamentarians, officials and civil society representatives from the #WesternBalkansSix and the EU 🇪🇺 came together to exchange ideas on how to strengthen #youth political participation, support #RegionalCooperation and advance the EU accession process.

At a time of rapid change and uncertainty, creating spaces for #dialogue and youth participation is more important than ever.

At the UN #MSMEDay2026 Celebration hosted by @UNIDO in #Vienna today, RCC Deputy Secretary General @UmutErgezer highlighted the vital role of small businesses in building a more competitive, resilient and inclusive #SouthEastEurope, saying “MSMEs are more than economic actors. They are engines of innovation, employment and social cohesion.”
He stressed that connectivity must go hand in hand with competitiveness, stronger institutions and investment in people to ensure that growth creates opportunities across the region.

A more competitive and resilient region begins by giving its entrepreneurs the confidence and conditions to invest, innovate and grow.

RCC Secretary General @amer_kap during his keynote speech “Regional Cooperation and the Road to EU Integration,” following the @adriafuture2026 opening in #Tivat today said “If EU membership is our main goal, and it is, then the road to Brussels leads through your neighbour’s yard. Regional cooperation is not a box to tick, it is a matter of strategic self-interest and a condition for credible accession,”

RCC SG also underlined that the region’s competitiveness and attractiveness for investment will depend on its ability to deliver concrete results, from mobility and digital integration to green transition and market integration, rather than declarations alone.
