That Mike Tyson Super Bowl ad was a colossal waste of money and airtime. From a public health standpoint, shaming people about weight does not lead to sustained behavior change. And “eat real food” is a useless slogan when it ignores the barriers to healthier eating including a food environment deliberately engineered to promote ultra-processed products.
He vaguely says “something has to be done,” yet never directly calls out food companies, corporate practices, or industry accountability. That omission isn’t accidental. Naming corporate influence, lobbying, and campaign money is uncomfortable, so instead individuals get blamed while powerful systems walk away untouched.
