It’s a matter of public record that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has fulfilled all legal requirements of his appeal by filing his brief of argument, motion for accelerated hearing, and a bail application before the Court of Appeal.

Yet, the government has so far failed to file its reply brief, and the court is yet to schedule a date to hear either the substantive appeal or the bail application. 

This systematic delay is tantamount to injustice. Personal liberty is a fundamental right. When the main appeal is intentionally stalled by the prosecution's inaction, the bail application must be treated as high-priority.

To be sure, keeping Mazi Nnamdi Kanu incarcerated without hearing his bail application amounts to a violation of his right to be heard within a reasonable time.

The Court of Appeal is therefore strongly urged to act now! Hearing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s bail application has now become more urgent than ever.

He is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) that many other ethnic nationalites in Nigeria rever and have now joined the millions of voices of good conscience demanding for his freedom.

I went to journalism school. I was editor of my college newspaper. I’ve published numerous periodicals over the years. I know what news is, and actual journalism.

The American Veterans Of Igbo Descents (AVID) Support For Nnamdi Kanu And The Biafran Course

The American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID) is a United States based organization composed of men and women of Igbo ancestry who have served honorably in the United States' Armed Forces. According to its stated mission, American Veterans of Igbo Descent seeks to promote Igbo cultural heritage, advocate for justice and human rights, foster unity among Igbo people, and contribute positively to society through values acquired during military service.
