@abbyysimpsonn Learning about the principles of special education is super important, no matter a teacher’s specific field. They allow educators to be well-rounded and well prepared for all students, including their particular needs and accommodations. #EDUC200#04Sp22
Today we discussed how we can incorporate Bloom’s Taxonomy into our classrooms. This chart goes over the varying levels of involvement that we can use to teach lessons, design assignments, and get students thinking. #EDUC200#04Sp22
@MaeWill40678845 I agree that this discussion was very enlightening about the bias that exist in textbooks. As future teachers we will have a responsibility to eliminate those biases and teach with honesty. #EDUC200#04Sp22
@erin_messier @wilsonlanguage @CMSPrincipal1 Activities that involve moving around the classroom allow for a fun break from the everyday norm and engage students in a new way! This can be a great way to allow students to be more involved and hands-on with their education. #EDUC200#04Sp22
Today we guessed what grade level is MOST important for children. The answer? 3rd grade! The reason is that this is when reading becomes a necessity before upper level courses begin. Children that struggle to read in 3rd grade are less likely to graduate on time. #EDUC200#04Sp22
@brenna_staley This class was especially helpful because I had not used APA formatting in the past. This showed me that no matter what academic level is being taught, there should always be time to go ‘back to the basics’ and make sure everyone is on the same page. #EDUC200#04Sp22
@laurenand_dukes @Kevin_Chung21 I really liked this activity as well because it showed that there is not just one way to organize a classroom. Each philosophy portrayed different aspects that can help students thrive. As future teachers, it’s important to know that there is not just one norm. #04Sp22#EDUC200
@MaeWill40678845 Hey Mae! I thought that this discussion was super interesting because it brought to mind things that people of different identities may take for granted that is a constant battle for others. This is a topic that needs more mainstream than it currently has! #04Sp22#EDUC200
In class we discussed what attributes teachers can have to make their classroom a place of learning and support. We used words such as passionate, understanding, and student-oriented. This made me think about the importance of the right mindset when teaching.

@zoefloyd22@TrianaStapleton I loved this activity so much! It really expressed the idea behind the Cultural Iceberg, and I hope to use this in my future classrooms.
Today in class we shared the Stories of Our Names. A person’s name can tell you a lot about their culture; whether it be influenced by their parents’ immigration, a passed down family name, or a religious attribute.
