FEEDBACK FOR THE BESTIES @TheAllInPod’s rise to the top of the charts has recently been met with backlash from its listeners directed at the four hosts. Opinions are as diverse as the show's audience, spanning from partisan political disagreement to criticisms of perceived lack of expertise. As a long-time fan of the pod, I have a different view: the primary issue recently has been the contentious dynamics between the hosts' unique personalities, which often lead to an unpleasant listening experience. This contrasts the earlier episodes of All-In, marked by more dialogue, less crosstalk, and an overarching sense of harmony. This friction among the hosts, all leaders in their respective fields, isn't surprising. They've been their own bosses for years, perhaps missing out on the kind of critical feedback that encourages self-reflection and growth - particularly in a field (podcast hosting) that started out as a hobby for most of them. To this end, this thread will use the Situation-Behavior-Impact (SBI) model to suggest how each Bestie can foster a more effective on-air dynamic.The goal is not to dunk on or to castigate, but rather to deliver structured feedback in as objective a manner as possible with the goal of improving the podcast. And before me or my opinions are dismissed as “mid,” as the hosts are wont to do with increasing frequency as of late, I would urge them to consider whether this type of defensive and reflexive behavior is in fact what is causing fans to react negatively in the first place.
