at what networth can you justify dropping 5-8k usd on a 12 hr flight?

the reasonable answer is:

you should only fly business and "waste" 5-8k usd for a fleeting experience when you are a multi millionaire

but is life really about being reasonable or is it actually about taking risks and having fun?

i started flying business when i was still a naive and poor investment banker with a measly salary of 120k. it was way out of my budget but it deeply shaped my mindset to be abundant instead of scared. i would look at a flight from zurich to singapore, economy would be 600usd, biz would be 6k, i would think "damn, why is this shit so expensive" and then just book it and never think about it again

you need to have full confidence that it’s ok to overspend in your young years bc you know that you will make a lot more money when you got older, so it’s no problem to overspend in your 20s and lifemax. this is in strong contrast to a guy i know who has over 10million in networth but still flies economy bc he has a scarcity mindset and tries to jeet himself through life in fear of losing what he has

you cannot live life and be a jeet, especially as a guy, it’s so ghey. i always say that money is like women. you gotta allow money to flow through you freely and you cannot try to control and restrict money or it will leave you. only when money feels relaxed and free around you, more will come to you easily

it’s not fake it till you make it. it’s having deep confidence in your own skillset that no matter what happens, you will thrive. if you have a decent iq and risk tolerance, chances are very good that it will all workout. also, an extra 5k spent in your early 20s gives you such a disproportionate increase in life quality than 5k spent when you are 45

and what’s the worst thing that can happen? you lose it ALL and start again. your WORST case future scenario is the current reality for everyone else

Electromagnetic forces are incredibly strong at a local scale. They shape atoms, molecules, chemistry, biology, and almost everything we experience directly. But because there are both positive and negative charges, their effects tend to cancel out at larger scales. Gravity is much weaker locally, but because mass does not cancel out in the same way, gravity dominates at the scale of planets, stars, and galaxies.

Organizations work the same way.

Individual excellence matters. A brilliant person or a great team can create enormous local force. They can elevate a project, save a client, build a product, or change the direction of a company. But in a 10,000-person organization, you cannot rely on every person being exceptional. Hiring is imperfect. Training is imperfect. Judgment is uneven. Some people will be excellent, some will be average, and some will be bad. At large scale, these local differences partially cancel out.
