Last week, my wonderful sister Caroline died suddenly at home. She had been ill with pulmonary hypertension for a while but none of us expected her to be taken so soon. We are all devastated. She was 50 years old.
Within a single year the illiberal axis in southeast Europe of Orban and Vucic in Hungary 🇭🇺 and Serbia 🇷🇸 has collapsed under the crushing weight of the people who demanded democratic change, an end to corruption, and open, honest government.
I can finally talk about Mass Effect Universe.
Since Bioware closed I can now reveal that I was part of the Mass Effect Council, saw what BioWare was building, and provided feedback during development.
• Set 600+ years after the Reaper War
• You play as a customizable N7 agent
• Instead of being a walking gun rack, you're a cross between John Wick and James Bond
• Shepard's legacy preserved, regardless of your ending
• A galaxy divided into three major factions
• Humanity, Krogan, Batarians, and more allied together
• Council races forming their own alliance
• The Geth emerging as a third superpower
• A galactic Cold War instead of another Reaper style invasion with a shadowy adversary
• Geth-built megastructures
• Connections between the Milky Way and Andromeda
• Experimental technology implanted in you as a unique point of difference
• Hacking and manipulating the environment
• See through walls, identify systems, remotely trigger hazards and more
• Handcrafted missions like ME1-3
• But with Hitman-style freedom in how you complete them
• Brutal close-range executions
• Squadmates who can clash with each other
• Romance wasn't being sanitised
• Liara returns - now an incredibly powerful Asari Matriarch
From what I saw, BioWare was making Mass Effect for us, the fans, not for people who don't exist.
It looked incredible.
And now we may never get to play it.

Generally disagree with Jacob Rees-Mogg on almost everything but this is such a good example of how insane America has gone that Carlson genuinely thinks the UK is more authoritarian than Russia and even JMS is shocked:
Boris Johnson and Dominic Cummings WERE put in charge of Brexit, and they then delivered it.
At some point its biggest supporters need to start acknowledging that the brighter future promised by Vote Leave was a lie.
That's the long and short of it.

@DrewSav Tried joining a social club for something that interests you? I joined my local badminton group and have made so many friends though it, and my other friend met his partner through it.
@jonwillchambers It can be an effective guarantee to a sceptical public that at least theres no danger of Israel hosting. Feels like this has been done to entice some of them back
