You could even extend this concept into a creative writing activity where students write a fairytale that relates to their artwork. I taught something similar whilst I was on placement and the students thoroughly enjoyed it! #UONteach
I recently read an article that said all NSW government schools are in the process of getting these put in as bubblers cannot be used due to coronavirus. It's sad it took a pandemic situation for this to happen but progress is progress.. right?! #UONteach
While I was on placement, the school started a recycling initiative. Each class was given a tub to put bottles/poppers in and the money received from the return & earn went straight back into the school! The kids loved it and conversation about recycling was reignited. #UONteach
https://t.co/KNk4s2GaUA Clean Up Australia Day, who doesn't remember participating in this!? Such a great initiative to encourage everyone all around the nation to get involved and clean up. What initiatives have you seen in schools to help clean up our country? #UoNTeach
TeachStarter is always my go-to website for resources and it's not hard to see why! Students could use these posters to draft ideas and then write a persuasive text on one of the 'r' concepts. #UONteach
Teachstarter is one of the best online resource banks I've used! This set of 5 posters explains the concepts of reducing, reusing, recycling, rethinking and repairing waste! #UoNTeach

@emily3237690 It's so important to utilise ICT's in the classroom where possible! 21st century learners typically love using technology, so it's great to find ways where we can integrate it in their learning. #UONteach
@emily3237690 I always love the idea of creating posters- it's a great way to access a lot of information without heavy reading, which is fantastic for our visual learners! Thanks for sharing. #UONteach
@emily3237690 This is such a great idea! You could even have a look at the PDHPE Syllabus and create an activity that links it to the Personal Development section to integrate another KLA. #UONteach
Wow! This equates to just under 4 MILLION kilograms of rubbish that has ended up in our oceans. If this is what has been removed I can’t imagine what is still out there. We as a society really need to consume responsibly and put rubbish where it belongs. #UONteach#recycle#reuse
To date, we have removed 8,691,089 pounds of trash from the oceans and coastlines and we’re not stopping anytime soon. We have cleanup operations in Bali, Haiti, Guatemala, and Florida. #4ocean#plasticfree#breakfreefromplastic
Sometimes it can be overwhelming to think of all the things we should or shouldn’t be doing to help our planet Earth. However, if every school can implement simple practices such as this, it makes a massive difference on a global level. #UONteach
The City of Newcastle run in-school programs that educate students on topics such as recycling, litter, landfill management etc. This would be very insightful for my stage 3 students at the beginning of the unit plan. #UONteach#sustainability#recycle https://t.co/KKlDNpGC4m
This would be a great stimulus for stage 3 students as they could create their own informative video on one of the 17 #sustainable goals, then present it to the class. Utilising ICT in the classroom helps ensure our 21st century learners are engaged in their education. #UONteach
Here's a fun, cost-effective way to provide entertainment that doesn't cost the earth! You could even turn this into an art activity where some of the pieces are missing and students have to draw that section. #UONteach#reuse#recycle#sustainability#goal12
On a small market in Cartagena we saw two guys making beautiful recycled bags, made from pull tabs. Nice combination of sustainable fashion, craftmanship and responsible production #goal12. For the yellow coloured pieces they need colombian beer cans.

This would be a good video to show stage 3 students what can happen when plastic ends up in our oceans. Fish don't know any better but human's do, so it is up to us to produce and consume responsibly! #UONteach#sustainability#recycle
The City of Newcastle run excursions where students take a tour of the facility to learn about waste management. This would be an insightful experience for my stage 2 students in the beginning stage of the unit of work. #UONteach#sustainability#recycle https://t.co/KKlDNpGC4m
While it’s important to encourage students to recycle, it’s equally important for them to know WHY? This YouTube video gives a detailed explanation of the impact plastic has on our environment! Check it out #uonteach#sustainability#recycle https://t.co/glWzTpZCIS
Some more inspiration on how we can immerse students in the knowledge and practises of recycling - a playground made of recycled tyres and timber! #uonteach#sustainability#recycle
This website lets you assess your individual economical footprint. I just went through and was really surprised by my results. Give it a try! #uonteach#sustainability#recycle https://t.co/PoKRepu1Mn
This website gives insightful ideas on how to incorporate recycling within the school environment. It’s important to expose students to good recycling habits so that they can continue these practises into the future. #uonteach#sustainability#recycle https://t.co/37NIDbKtB7
