@jakeadelstein Meh, that's kinda just asking if you kill the people driving the market or not. That kinda thing is always gonna have divided opinions but, I'd say Singapore is a decent, not perfect example to look at.
Welcome to #Japanistan, where the foreign residents who buried their lives here aren't welcome anymore. It's not a kind policy–and not even a wise one
The Japanese government, under rabid nationalist Sanae Takaichi and her half-American minister, have effectively made permanent residence impossible for many.
Japan just told the foreigners who built lives here, who learned the language, paid the taxes, raised the kids, buried the years — you were too slow. No permanent residency. Not because you didn't earn it, but because it's easier to blame 3% of the population than to answer for thirty years of decline.
Foreigners in Japan are obligated to carry their residence cards at all times. Failure to do so now might result in your permanent visa being erased. So much for permanence! Here’s the Ministry of Justice guide to spotting forged cards, because people are just beating down the gates to work in Japan for the much valued yen and high wages.
It's a good short-term play. Scapegoating always polls better than self-examination.
But the rot was never the foreigners — it was three decades of the LDP running the country like a family business. They take care of friends and cronies first, leaving everyone else to be a mere afterthought.
One day the math will catch up. People will look around and ask how it all fell apart. But by then the answer will be sitting in Singapore, or Lyon, or back in their motherland. The smart ones don't wait around to be blamed for a mess they didn't make. They just leave. And they don't come back.
Immigration lawyer Yuichi Takatsuka pointed out on a LinkedIn post one of the fundamental flaws in the new regulation.
“In this case, people in lower-salary industries, such as aged care workers - who are among the most needed workers in Japan - can be excluded from applying for Japanese permanent residency. This is unfair and detrimental to Japanese society.”
Someone should tell Minister Kimi Onoda that 2-dimensional characters are not actually able to take care of the aged. They don’t change bedpans, nor do they do the work of construction workers, or even 7/11 clerks.
To be clear, it’s bad enough when foreigners are only tolerated in the jobs no one wants (or when they’re ultra-rich). But thanks to the current environment cultivated by Japan’s far-right, the Overton window on immigration has clearly shifted to the dehumanizing end: debating whether the utility of foreigners outweighs their unsightliness. But that’s where we’re at.
As the yen sinks, the xenophobia rises, and the same people who have been mismanaging this country for years look for an easy punching bag. Sounds like a great plan to attract talent. Who doesn’t want to work in a country where they’re not welcome, and you must master a difficult language, that’s really only spoken in one country and your wages are subpar? And when they kick you out because you never will be able to settle here, your savings will be in the doge coin of Asia, leaving you financially screwed.

And why aren’t Japanese people getting married and having children? No, it couldn’t be low wages that don’t keep up with inflation, nor the 90 hour work weeks, nor the lack of support for raising a child. It’s the 3% of the population that are foreigners, obviously. I’m sure getting rid of them will really help with the labor shortage, too.

India is the ultimate manifestation of the tragedy of the commons. One and a half billion people living in a pulsating, ever-growing Petri dish of near-zero social trust, in which preemptive exploitation becomes the norm: “If I don’t take the free resource now, someone else will, so I might as well take it”.
Here's how we can build an American utopia:
-execute all violent criminals
-end all forms of welfare
-mandate that anyone running for politics (local or national) must be born in America
-ban dual citizenship
-ban foreign interest groups & dark money
-house the mentally ill in insane asylums
-forcibly arrest, incarcerate & rehabilitate drug addicts living on the streets
-impeach all pro-crime judges
-end mass migration (legal and illegal)
-cut ties with Israel
@Ip2AlwaysWin As someone living here for over a decade I can say that people like this have done irreparable damage to the image of the foreign community. Very unfortunate.

@rationals3nse@matthewdmarsden There is literal video evidence of foreigners committing fraud. When you say "nobody is ripping you off", not only are you not being truthful, you're being an idiot.

🚨BREAKING: RED CROSS DELETES VIDEO AFTER MIGRANT MURDERS BRITISH WOMAN
The Red Cross made a sympathetic cartoon video showing the journey of Sharif, an Afghan travelling to Europe
When Sharif got there he MURDERED a British Woman and stuffed her body into a suitcase
They wanted you to feel sorry for him but he killed a young woman like the savage that he is
The Red Cross must be held to account for the blood they have on their hands
This is a serious point:
1. The Moroccan government arranged this as a deliberate invasion, or test run of an invasion.
2. The Red Cross is providing material support to the invaders.
I see no way around the fact that the Red Cross has crossed a very significant line and made themselves into a logistics support infrastructure for modern unarmed warfare.
They have made themselves a legitimate military target and they should be given fair warning of this before their operatives are treated as legitimate military targets.
When men made sure women only had the OPTION to work without worrying about bills or shelter or food because they created an economy where ONE man's income was enough to foot all the bills.
Then feminism came. Used some abusive marriages to instill fear in all women. Forced them into the labor market. Doubled the workforce overnight.
Ruined men's wages. Rent went up. Utilities went up. Food prices went up. Because landlords and corporations don't see a one-income household anymore, they see a TWO-income household.
Kids now spend their lives with maids or daycare. Husbands are forced to work hard all day and still come home to cook and clean and do school runs.
Women want to work, still want to spend time with their kids, still want to be wives, still want to be mothers, still want soft life. You can't have it all.
Now THIS is the result of feminism. There is no more village anymore.
Grandma still has loans and mortgage to pay so she can't even help with her grandkids.
Everybody is working. Nobody is home.
This is what happens when you build an entire economy around a two person household just to be able to afford basic life
You have feminism to thank for that.
Everytime you have to leave your newborn babies, thank a feminist
Everytime you are overworked, alone and lacking a village, thank a feminist
Everytime you see your husband work like a dog just for your family to be barely above poverty, thank a feminist.
