HERE’S THE BEEF 🇺🇸 || THE GREAT COMPROMISE

Few things have harmed the American farmer and rancher more predictably than government manipulation of agricultural markets, especially when that manipulation relies on foreign imports.

And believe me, I understand that families are feeling the pinch of grocery prices. It is unquestionably a difficult policy dilemma.

But it would be naive to pretend this approach will not affect America’s cattle producers; the very people being asked to rebuild a dwindling national cow herd — and particularly when the express purpose of this policy is to import more foreign beef to undercut our domestic market.

So I’d ask this compromise of President Trump:

Pair the announced beef-import policy with a commitment to restore Mandatory Country-of-Origin Labeling (MCOOL) and use the full weight of your Administration to get that deal done.

Give American ranchers the opportunity to compete.

MCOOL would tell consumers whether their beef comes from cattle born, raised, and harvested in the United States or from foreign imports. That allows the consumer, not Washington, to decide.

Families who place a higher value on beef raised by an American rancher would have that choice. Families for whom price is the deciding factor would have that choice as well.

Politics requires a lot of give and take. But American farmers have been on the losing end of far too many government interventions.

Let this be an opportunity to restore some balance — not by telling consumers what to buy, but by telling them the truth and trusting them to make the best decision for their families.

Leadership at the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (@BeefUSA) and Nebraska Cattlemen (@NECattlemen) need to have a discussion with Jaclyn Wilson (@FDGenetics) social media actions. She has a tendency of blocking people she disagrees. This reflects poorly on your organizations.

NCBA (@BeefUSA), Ms. Wilson was a member of the inaugural group of the Trailblazers program. I feel she has failed at being an industry spokesperson. She has in fact, been creating an echo chamber on social media.

Beef Advocates Blaze New Trails
The Trailblazers program takes advocacy to an unprecedented level by giving participants the tools and training they need to promote beef to new audiences while addressing and correcting myths. In April, the inaugural group of ten Trailblazers from six states traveled to NCBA’s office in Denver for a three-day orientation training event to prepare them to serve as industry spokespeople over the course of the coming year.

The multi-day training provided the new Trailblazers with resources, information, and engaging activities they needed to become expert communicators, excel in media interviews and understand how to build confidence in beef related practices when talking to consumers.

During the three-day training, Trailblazers focused on actively working to acknowledge the importance of connections outside our industry, discovering new ways to connect with consumers and defend the work of the Beef Checkoff in their own communities back home

As a group, the Trailblazers worked together to broadcast one’s message beyond the echo chamber of their reach on social media by participating in a teams-based social media and culinary challenge. ...

Independent Ranchers do not align with the majority of big lobby groups, specifically NCBA. We’ve mentioned this often. IMO, they siphon $$ possibly un constitutionally out of producers and consumers hands through beef check offs.
They oppose MCOOL and support EID.

We’re going to call a spade a spade and say that the National Cattleman’s Beef Association @BeefUSA is the enemy of the American cattle rancher. They:

- support amnesty for illegal ag workers
- want unchecked foreign beef imports, especially from Mexico, who is still struggling with an outbreak of flesh eating maggots
- are AGAINST Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling (MCOOL)
- are AGAINST President Trump’s tariffs on Brazil

Worst of all they take congressionally mandated money, called the Beef Checkoff, from hardworking producers to go lobby against their interests in DC

The Beef Checkoff is a mandatory national program established in 1985 that collects $1 per head of cattle sold in the United States, and it’s managed by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board under @usda oversight

In 2025, $25.7 million (!!) of the $38 million national Checkoff budget went to the NCBA, which accounts for 68% of the total funds distributed by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board

It’s time for people in Washington to stop listening to these crooks and start listening to the people who break their backs everyday to make sure this nation is fed

AN OPEN MESSAGE TO SUMMIT CARBON SOLUTIONS.

Now that HB 1052 has passed and Summit Carbon Solutions is no longer able to use the coercive and overwhelming power of eminent domain against South Dakotans (same with any other for-profit company) I’m left wondering what Summit Carbon Solutions will do next…

Here is my open message to Summit Carbon or anyone else who wants to try to come abuse our fellow South Dakotans:

Your green new deal boondoggle; your lawsuits; your threats; and your intimidation against our people, our counties, and our grassroots commissioners ARE NOT WELCOME HERE. It’s time to stop.

Take. The. Message. You have caused one of the biggest, if not the biggest, turnovers of incumbent politicians in the history of South Dakota primary elections because many incumbent politicians who voted for SB 201 were tossed out of office because of their vote. But passing SB 201 was all for nothing, because a grassroots army of people rose up to put SB 201 on the ballot, and that referred law, RL 21, was resoundingly rejected by the people. They saw through your attempt to mislead the people by claiming that SB 201 was a “landowner bill of rights” and saw the truth that it was really an attempt to pave the way for your boondoggle carbon project. 

As a result of the elections, the leadership of the legislature was almost completely filled with opponents to your boondoggle project—including my election as Speaker of the South Dakota House of Representatives.

Then another election took place, and the Republican Party elected as its chair and officers stalwarts and leaders in the pro-property rights movement.

All the while, you sued hundreds of South Dakota landowners with condemnation lawsuits in an attempt to take and use their private property against their will. What you did caused immense hardship and stress and financial burden upon many South Dakotans who just wanted to exercise their most basic private property right to tell you “No thanks. I’m not interested.”

But this also gained you nothing because the people stood their ground, your PUC permit was denied, and the Supreme Court ruled against your status as a “common carrier.”

And now, all of this has led to HB 1052. With its passage, your pressure campaign in South Dakota has been ended. Let it be the final say. No more lawsuits. No more intimidation. No more green new deal boondoggle. Enough is enough.

A note for the landowners—as I told the the people at the end of my debate with another carbon sequestration pipeline company who folded up and left shortly after we publicly debated: to the landowners, to the farmers, and to the families who are affected by this: keep up the fight and keep up the faith. You are absolutely in the right on this issue. Do not ever let yourself be bullied or intimidated by the likes of Summit Carbon Solutions. Know that we’ve got your back. And at the end of this, the landowners are going to prevail, I truly believe that. God bless you.

1. Accept the fact that this is the leadership that we (the majority of) working, middle class Americans wanted. We are pulling the economic weight in this country and we are tired of pulling the weight of those that do not contribute.
2. If you haven't already, get a job. Every business in the country is hiring. And you get paid for the work you do. And the harder you work and the more you learn, the faster you will advance, and the more you will earn. It's an amazing concept.
3. Understand that if you are a U.S. Citizen, or have already started the legal process to become a U.S. Citizen that you are not going to get deported! I don't care what your favorite liberal media channel says.
4. Tariffs are a bargaining chip. When you are in business you make deals, and sometimes you have to play hardball. That's how you get the deals you desire.
5. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects you from discrimination by age, sex, race, etc. DEI openly violates this. Democrats want you to believe the opposite is true because they value your vote more than your quality of life.
6. It's not the government's money, it's your money. You absolutely should give a damn about how it is spent.
7. We are not the World Bank. If other countries need help they should raise their own finances. I don't recall receiving any hurricane relief money from India or China.
8. Drill baby, drill. Want to know why? Because we have it. Are electric cars the future? Not in their current form. There is way more oil in the ground than lithium, and guess where most of that is? China. Want food prices to come down? Then energy costs have to come down. And that means oil, gas, coal, and nuclear. Unicorn farts and liberal tears won't power your car!
9. The economy and the security of the country are far more important than your feelings, get over it.
10. There are men and there are women. Simple as that.
11. Education is to establish a learning core that prepares a child for the real, working world. Anything else is wrong.
12. @realDonaldTrump is the President of the United States and he won by a landslide — both the popular vote and the electorial vote. Get over it.
