Coca-Cola: We’re looking for a brand refresh. I know we are one of the most iconic brands ever. We just want to do something different.
Agency: We got you.
[few moments later]
Agency: Claude, help me with this Coca-Cola brand refresh. Make it more iconic.
Claude: Here you go.
Agency: More iconic!
Claude: Okay, here is a more iconic version. Would you like me to package this up for you?
Agency: MORE ICONIC!!!!!!!
Claude: Here is your even more iconic brand refresh for Coca-Cola. How many file types do you need me to deliver?
Agency: THE MOST ICONIC!!!!!!!!!!! NO MISTAKES. MAKE IT PERFECT!!!!
Claude: I’ve reverted back to the original file and adjusted the kerning by 0.2%, softened one flourish, and slightly rebalanced the curves. Unnoticeable to the human eye, but if you zoom in just enough, you may notice it.
Agency: Here you go, client. That will be $25,000,000.
If you are a media owner, one of the most important things you need to work on right now is making sure your inventory can be:
1. Found
2. Recommended
3. Bought
…via an MCP.
Can an AI agent find your inventory, understand it well enough to recommend it, and actually buy it?
If you don’t see a future where marketers simply talk to an AI agent to plan and buy media, I can’t help you. Missing this will be bigger than missing the internet.
This doesn’t replace human relationships. There will always be deals made 100% human to human.
If anything, it frees up more of your time to spend with actual humans instead of spreadsheets, emails, and back-and-forth.
So here’s my challenge for the second half of the year:
Get your inventory into an MCP.
It’s that important.
The sass is getting out of hand.
My gut says it’s because a lot of the makers don’t have friends and are using AI to replace human relationships.
I don’t need my agent to have a personality. My wife, kids and friends got all the personalities and sass I need.
Just do the job, Claude! (NO MISTAKES)
The way you win the AI war is simple: just do what the user asks. No sass, no quirky personality, no lectures, no nonsense, just do what the user asks. The user wants to make a video of Goku fighting Mickey Mouse while holding a Starbucks branded cup? Do it. You limit, you lose.
Millennial here who started with negative $100k in debt (got that degree though 🤣).
My wife and I lived on one income with no financial help from family (but lots of babysitting and love, which is worth more than money). Oh yeah, in the San Francisco Bay Area at that.
We saved for 9 years while paying off $100k of student debt to buy our first house (all while having five kids during it all).
Some of our best memories are in our 800 sq. ft. apartment. Living poor with lots of laughs and love.
Not all millennials had help. We’re just too busy living life to talk about it.
I talked to a millennial this morning who said the overwhelming majority of his peers had parent help to buy first home.
In my GenX cohort I don’t know anyone that had parents help.
Not a dis on millennials.
Laila and I bought our first (really rough) townhouse for $160 k.
“Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy?”
When glory in our work is the goal, it comes up short. Our work was never made to be the end goal.
Work was good. It was supposed to satisfy because it was to reflect the glory and power of our Creator.
It should be a means, not the end.
My wife writes for a very high quality homeschool magazine. It looks great. Fun to flip through.
With all the AI slop, the fact anyone can post anything as an authority, makes me want to hold a high quality advertising industry magazine even more.
Who wants to join me?
We’re still off by a few years, but there will be a world where no one’s going to want to login to your platform to do the job.
They will want to get it done with their agent.
Build for that today.
It feels like people are living at different spots in the timeline.
Im interviewing a bunch of people for open roles at ridge.
- 50% of people STILL havent used ai for more than a google search replacement.
- 20% Some people are running their lives in it, but haven't downloaded a harness- browser only
- A small group are fully loaded.
Ai agents for everything. automating everything.
And then you read the comments on instagram, and 20% of people want to burn down data centers like it's Frankenstein
The future is here.
Just depends on where you are on the timeline.
I think within 2 years, using a browser on desktop will be optional and clunky.
The harness is the new window to the world.
Desktop computers with local software got replaced by the internet and the cloud.
Now, webapps will just be database layers for agents.
Why would I log into notion and click buttons?
Agents will just do it.
Why would I sort through my email and look for important stuff?
Agents will do it.
Why would I make a google doc and share it?
Agents will do it.
This might be a big DUH to everyone reading this.
But Im telling you-
to 95% of people this sounds like gibberish.
They are at a different spot on the timeline.
The level of change management coming to orgs will be as big as the internet was.
The future is here; it's just not evenly distributed.
Me to Claude: Add this to your memory for these types of tasks: never make this mistake again. Don't be lazy. This is paramount.
Original prompt: Make every company name bold.
What is one thing that AI has truly helped you with that you can never see yourself ever doing again?
For me, Powerpoint.
Yes, I still give it direction. Yes, I still have to think about what I want to communicate. Yes, I still need to make small edits, but the starting from scratch, making sure all the boxes are lined up, all of that shenanigans?
Never again.
Oh, and Excel/Google sheets. Same as above, still involved, but never again starting from scratch.
People who openly trash their competition, unless that competition is truly a scam, make their own product or service look weak. It should be able to stand on its own.
Also, you never know where life will take you.
One day, you might find yourself sitting across the table from those same people, hoping they accept your offer.
