Let's not get hot takes from the right wing media in reacting to the LA wildfires. There are valid budget priority critiques, but BFFR, Mayor Karen Bass and DEI are not to blame for the difficulties containing the wildfires. The LAFD budget is a measuring stick not a blood oath. They exceeded their FY 23/24 budget by $66M because when sh*t happens, it gets handled regardless of what a PDF says. I've done more investigating into City of LA financial reports so now I have receipts to show that as of 12/6/24 (before the LA wildfires) the forecasted expenditures are $72 million HIGHER than the FY23/24 budget and $90M more than the FY24/25 budget. So again the discussion about a $17M budget cut on paper was always a distraction and pretext to absurdly attack Mayor Karen Bass. #reeciecolbertshow #reeciewiththereceipts
