If we are heading for utopia why would ownership matter? Why are they setting up to benefit themself from mass unemployment?

I don't think you understand why it's actually gone up over the past 5 years. Nothing is guaranteed and you could be holding the bag in 6 months compared to other asset classes and that is the whole point.
