@Lud_Lova@RachelMoiselle Now you reveal yourself. We started talking “Jewish Lawyers”, like me. As local as you. I do shake hands, but I wear odd socks. Those that don’t shake hands (and wear even socks) are locals and their customs are just as local as yours. Once again who cares. Take a chill pill.
@Lud_Lova@RachelMoiselle Sorry false analogy. In the orthodox Jewish example someone is choosing not to do something. In your example you are forcing someone to hug you. Totally different. I choose to wear odd socks, saves time: totally my choice, none of your business.
@Lud_Lova@RachelMoiselle Relax some weird ( from your perspective) religious people, a tiny number, don’t want to shake hands. As my sons would say, take a chill pill. Such a no big deal. As my Gran would have said “it takes all sorts”.
@cenkuygur Your response is hysterical. You have invented the concept of Western citizens so that you can suggest that such citizens have citizen equivalent rights in all Western countries. In effect the British government judges you to be a troublemaker in Britain. Good call I think.
@DanNeidle And if she refused they should have stopped acting, not make a return on her behalf that they were concerned about. That’s not what appears to have happened though.
@DanNeidle I don’t know why there was no penalty. But stamp duty is so fundamental to conveyancing that I think it pathetic that conveyancers shuffle something like this off on to their client. The point is not difficult and is covered by the HMRC website.
@DanNeidle Very interested to know the position of continuous cruisers. That is people who live on boat but navigate from canal side mooring to mooring and are permitted thereby to not pay mooring fees, although they still need a crt licence.
@havivrettiggur@just_whatever You are right but it has been happening for years in the form of synagogue protection which probably has only worked because of effective gun control. I see it as analogous, in a minor way, to iron dome.
@British_Airways I want to know why the US airlines’ flights from or via India to or via Europe are avoiding Afghanistan and also avoiding flying close to the Iranian border, but your flights (on which I am booked) do neither. Are they just being more careful. They struck an RAF base btw.
@EE@England@FAWales@NorthernIreland@ScotlandNT@royaldeaf Cannot call, no network. Cannot login, need a text to do so. You do not appear to publish an email address. So if we could buy some sort of add on we can’t. Getting texts is very important for getting money. My advice if you are travelling don’t use EE.
@EE@England@FAWales@NorthernIreland@ScotlandNT@royaldeaf We each have mobile phone contracts with you we understood you had very good international coverage. We are in Namibia we cannot roam to any network. Suspicion is that you have no roaming in Namibia. Nor is there any way we can contact you. (1)
@jk_rowling You don’t need my approbation. But I think you are the greatest living Englishman (person, whichever is most correct). I read your books with my kids and I am desperately hoping to read them with my grandchildren.
@jjse31 It’s very simple for there to be tax avoidance there has to be a putative liability, before the claimed avoidance, being avoided. Not the case here. This is rubbish. This is a transaction having a desired outcome with a particular tax effect. The overall tax is the same before 1
