@michelle_byoung Anti-Christian personal attack. It’s really disorienting because a) he’s always been the logic guy, b) the Jesus he taught me about is not the one he worships now, and c) the flip from conversation to berating me happens so fast I get whiplash. My mom is more moderate but silent
@michelle_byoung They are good people, but they live in a small community and have lost their curiosity re differences. Not like them=scary and bad. Then my dad launches into Fox News talking points and we’re done with conversation. Challenging his perspective is received as an +
@michelle_byoung In my family, it’s the connection made between evangelical Christianity and the radical right. My parents have come to equate being Christian with being republican, and honestly most of our disagreements are rooted in them being afraid for my soul because I’m progressive. +
@cmclymer I feel you but like Pete would kick ass as,say, Secretary of State or something like that. And I would be serious money that he’ll be on the ticket in my lifetime.
@MrsCannonB@MattRKay Ten years is not dipping out. Thank you for investing in kids. For me the difference is in the framing. Do they claim the identity of teacher but not put in the work to become more skilled than “novice”? Did they reflect on practice and iterate/grow? Or did they dip?
@sheilagregoire We might be able to picture it, but there is no way a high school student should be dating a full ass adult. Developmentally, there is a huge gap, even if the girl acts grown (whatever that means).
not enough people have talked about Frederick Richard and it’s really crazy to me. this man scored the HIGHEST for the US men’s gymnastics team where are this man’s flowers?!
@dailystem Yes. Both. Really fun but also frustrating because I was giving days of my leave or I was working late hours after endless preservice meetings.
@Edwinivich The most effective teachers I’ve seen (and tried to model my practice after) use academics to build relationships and trust. It’s both/and, kids will with their butts off if they believe you believe in them and will also not take their shit (or allow their peers to disrupt class
@Edwinivich Also she had no crowd control either. It was chaos. She didn’t see a problem. I didn’t have hire/fire powers, only support and feedback powers. Once she told me to not come observe, and the Head of School didn’t get involved, I knew it was not the place for me.
