Though opioid overdose is a leading cause of disability and death, health systems lack incentives to make meaningful investments in proven overdose prevention services. #ACSC designation could change that. @DrHsuPsychiatry
Ten years ago, I was a first year medical student meeting my clinical skills group. Today, I’m teaching one. I’m so grateful to all my teachers- physician and patient. I’ll pass on everything you taught me as best as I can!
We were proud to see Drs. Ahmed Eltahir and Seye Oduyale present their cutting-edge research at #ASCRS2025 in San Diego! Their work highlights the innovation and collaboration driving our field forward. #WashUMedicine#WashUSurgery@ASCRS_1
Proud of @LosAngelesVA resident and future @uclaimchiefs Dr. Jay Shah for sharing his family’s story- a powerful account of the role we play in our families at times of health crisis, balancing consulting physician and concerned family member hats.

It also contains a harrowing reminder to keep diagnostic humility. “We assume the role of God as physicians, making the decision if someone lives or dies, and we owe it to our patients to have all the evidence before we make that call.”
Choice quotes from a moving Grand Rounds:
“It’s our responsibility to be trustworthy”
“Systems don’t care. Only people care.”
“We would’ve found something to connect. We just had to look”
Trust is the currency of transformative clinical care, for patients and practitioners.
New Interns, medical students, or any providers! Today is my last day of residency. It's crazy to think how far I have come. For your consideration:

New Interns, medical students, or any providers! I wanted to share my list of medical resources I compiled over residency! Best of all they are all free/have a free component. I hope it helps!
Please share it with whoever.
How often are we prescribing HF meds that patients can't take due to💵? If a GDMT rx falls into the EMR and no pt is around to afford it, does it even improve ❤️mortality? No! So proud of my @uclaimchiefs co-Firm E residents @NealDixit and @katieptr for studying this!
What is a cost-effective GDMT strategy for HFmrEF/HFpEF?
We built a model w/ clinical trial data (TOPCAT, PARAGON-HF, EMPEROR/DELIVER) and simulated outcomes w/ regimens of MRA/SGLT2i/ARNi.
Best 💊 combo?
MRA + SGLT2i
ARNi ⬇️ value at current 💵
Treat HF with urgency!
@DxRxEdu Small world story: @AlexHorneMD was my intern when I was a rotating medical student. Look how far we've come! Congrats Dr. Horne; this is very deserved. :D
Pictured: the end of an era! This was @kaustav_shah’s last day at the @LosAngelesVA. I had the pleasure of working alongside him delivering renal and primary care. I learned from his impressive research at ACP on triaging patient messages. I know you’re off to do great things!
I precepted @skinnyfatPhD in primary care clinic yesterday and learned about his 🧬 discovery today! He elucidated how humans could make metabolically active brown fat. Mirabegron at (probably prohibitively) high doses burns 200ish calories per day using this science. Incredible!
Join us at DoM Grand Rounds tomorrow as we explore groundbreaking research led by our physician-scientists in the areas of metabolism, infectious diseases, and social determinants of health. Stop by in-person or tune in via zoom! https://t.co/94mfzhbnVe
