@hickstro Great read! Made me reflect on my own interracial interactions and how I could have done better. Now, more than ever, is the time to talk about race and actually do better each day.
@hickstro @ericarhamilton @hickstro and @ericshamilton Thanks for including questions for each stakeholder. So often we ask questions of teachers and administrators, but neglect other major players, such as students and business communities.

An important element of digital literacy is the emoji π. This small graphic conveys multiple meanings within the discourse of it's use.
@sacarles When it comes to kids improving their writing skills, does it really matter what the subject is? Even as adults we all have different interests.

Want to get your students involved in the writing process? Look no further than fanfiction, an engaging combination of academic efficacy and digital literacy.
#edu800spring20 Coiro & Dobler (2007) consider online reading comprehension for students. I wonder how text-to-speech applications might affect their research. #DigitalLiteracies
#edu800spring20 Coiro & Dobler (2007) detail the complexity of online #ReadingComprehension for k-12 students. I wonder how students thrown into online learning because of #covid-19 are faring? Do they have the necessary skills?
#edu800spring20 Coiro & Dobler (2007) say online #ReadingComprehension for students requires prior knowledge of topic, printed text and website structures, and search engines. Imagine the struggle of ESL students with additional language requirements.
@SManacek@JoshikSchool@elaroom101 I think not, especially now when teachers are overwhelmed with the new teaching environment. With that being said, due diligence is important.

"...It is increasingly imperative for teachers themselves to experience and understand what it means to be fully engaged in new literacies practices " #Knoble. Teachers need to #KeepItReal in the classroom.
@elaroom101 I think there's a place for both. For example, reading an e-birthday/get well card is one thing, but reading the same message in a hand written card is more heartfelt. The medium matters.

Research in #NewLiteracies shows that outcomes are richer when learners with different knowledge and experiences work together and new works based on cultural items extend cultural development. #Knoble
#edu800spring20#NewLiteracies are innately more collaborative than conventional print literacies. This could be why social media & email have gained such popularity, and letter writing has achieved "endanged" status. #Knoble
@colbysharp Great post! I am teaching English in higher education, and we're moving online in 2 days. I'd like to think it's a learning experience for all. With that in mind, teachers, like myself, need to be ready to change gears when strategies don't work the way we planned.
