Day 4: I’m still really disappointed with the way Amazon MGM have dealt with this Stargate debacle.
They should address the issue, explain their position and not do the usual “what for this to blow over” tactic that gets used so often.
#Stargate is really on the line. After showing us what we almost had. I’m not ready to let them get away with this.
It makes no business sense….
#SaveStargate
The cancellation of the #Stargate revival by @AmazonMGMStudio is peak out-of-touch executive logic.
Former Netflix execs like Peter Friedlander and Blair Fetter killed a fully developed, franchise-respecting show because they claimed it lacked "broad appeal." They are chasing the mythical "Four-Quadrant" hit at the expense of a guaranteed audience.
For those outside the entertainment industry, the "Four Quadrants" are the major demographic groups studios use to project an audience:
1️⃣ Males
2️⃣ Females
3️⃣ Under 25 years old
4️⃣ Over 25 years old
A true four-quadrant show appeals to everyone. Modern executives are obsessed with finding these massive, algorithm-driven megahits right out of the gate. If a show doesn't project to hit all four quadrants on day one, they scrap it to chase a wider demographic.
The irony? Stargate is one of the rare legacy IPs that already built a four-quadrant audience organically. This isn't just a 14-year TV run; this franchise started with the original movie in 1994. That is over three decades of deep, multi-generational history.
It isn't just a niche, hard sci-fi show. It has grounded military action and deep mythology, but it survived on the character-driven, "found family" dynamics that appeal to every gender. It has the dedicated legacy fans who watched it in theaters and live on TV (the Over 25s), and a massive streaming generation that binged the entire franchise online (the Under 25s).
You don't buy a legacy IP just to throw it away because it doesn't fit a new spreadsheet metric. It's time to stop ignoring the massive audience standing right in front of you.

🚨 Amazon just scrapped the new #Stargate series by Martin Gero — after a full writers’ room, pre-production in the UK, and involvement from legends like Joseph Mallozzi & Brad Wright.
They claimed it “wouldn’t have broad appeal.” Stars like @MichaelShanks and the entire global fanbase call BS. Stargate has loyal, multi-generational fans ready to watch RIGHT NOW.
This doesn’t have to be the end.

Since Amazon MGM Studios won't even read an email from a dedicated Stargate fan ('unsolicited submission materials'), which must be bad for business, here's the full content of the email (subject is the axing of Stargate):
Dear Amazon Studios Leadership,
I am writing as a longtime Stargate fan to express my deep disappointment at the cancellation of Martin Gero’s new Stargate series and to ask that you reconsider.
Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, and Universe ran for seventeen seasons and built one of the most loyal fanbases in science fiction television. I have been part of that audience for years. I buy Prime Video subscriptions. I watch Amazon originals. I am exactly the viewer you are trying to reach.
The reported reason for the cancellation — that the show was too focused on existing fans — misunderstands how franchise revivals work. You do not build a new audience by abandoning the existing one. You build it by honoring the existing audience first and using their enthusiasm to bring new viewers in alongside them. That is precisely what Martin Gero, Brad Wright, and Joe Mallozzi were doing.
Please restore the Gero Stargate project, or at minimum commit to a revival that respects the franchise’s seventeen seasons of canon and brings back the creative team that built it.
The gate is ready to open again. Please let it.
Thank you for your time. @AmazonMGMStudio@BaronDestructo@MichaelShanks@GateWorld@dial_the_gate@fandompulse@disparutoo
Multiple fan petitions and letter-writing campaigns are now going to try to save the new Stargate.
Michael Shanks has been very vocal in amplifying fan voices.
Do we hae a shot at getting Amazon corporate's attention or are they too jaded to listen to the fans?
Not to keep banging the drum on the Stargate cancellation but if a franchise had enough viewership to warrant 17 SEASONS!!!
Maybe a new Stargate show by @martingero and @BaronDestructo and the rest of the team is a good idea! Maybe we trust the experts.
The new #Stargate series was designed to welcome new viewers, respect canon, and satisfy longtime fans.
As others (including @BaronDestructo) have pointed out, many of the reasons being floated for its cancellation simply don't hold up.
Save it... or release it.

@MichaelShanks In the meantime, @AmazonMGMStudio I had a great conversation with a customer service rep when I cancelled my decade+ prime membership. I hope your content team is as responsive as the customer service agents.
