Good time to remind ourselves:

I am teaching a new class this semester on "AI for scientific computing". The idea is to cover topics around learned surrogates for scientific computing with applications to PDE solving, forecasting, sampling, and selected downstream applications. https://t.co/W5ouX89O48
With the start of the semester just a week away, here’s what I decided to say to my upper division math course about how AI will or won’t change what they’re learning…
The Enduring Value of Math, in an Age of AI https://t.co/VIaRL8Lmes
anyone else also keeps getting "thinking failed" response from @ChatGPT web chat (sol 5.6 pro)? after a couple times then it simply doesn't respond any more on that chat thread? what shall I do?
Questions after reading a few AI-generated proofs this week: Why ChatGPT cannot stop using made-up jargon when writing proofs? Is this a reflection of mathematicians' poor writing habits?
@SebastienBubeck curious how the problems or fields are selected, based on intuitions on the strength of the model? or perhaps these are just successful ones from a gigantic search of many open problems in all subfields of math.
