If we really wanted to address athletic participation issues in Iowa, we would focus on classification by each activity, just as every sports club does, rather than putting a band-aid on the problem (and creating other problems) by adding 8th graders to more varsity sports.
@DSchumacher75 And like many legislative mandates, unfunded. Thus leaving schools to figure out how to manage it financially, as well as all of the parameters without guidance.
@DSchumacher75 What about how many years of eligibility then? Five years versus four? Like so many other things that are mandated at the legislative level, many times a knee jerk reaction. This one will end up being local control
@DSchumacher75 No play? I don't think they fully thought this through, just that they're hearing from constituents that there's not enough kids to play. Then let's get control of things at the lower levels and AAU programs which are driving kids away at a younger age.
@DSchumacher75 So many dynamics involved in this! There's enough disparity between seniors and freshman now seniors and eighth graders? What about the travel between buildings? What if there is more than one middle school feeding the high school? What about the academic side of things? No pass
@RepAshleyHinson Klobuchar: "One of the things that most struck me about this State of the Union is that he spent only 2.9 minutes talking about affordability out of an hour and 47 minute speech, and 3.9 minutes talking about healthcare. These are the number one issues on the minds of people."

With the start of basketball on the horizon, it is important for HS players (and parents) to understand some unique dynamics compared to many other HS sports - perhaps relevant to the seeming declining participation rates @WisBBYearbook@ColtonWilson23@JordanLoppnow@TravisBOUND
Mind Candy “If we don’t hold people accountable to our standards, we don’t truly have standards — “The standard is the standard” is a powerful mantra, and high standards with accountability never go out of style.” @usabasketball@TheDaily_Coach
Meier & I got to watch @ellamoser1 ball out today in her all-star game!! Her team got the W & plays in the ship at 3👊🏼🤩🏀 Proud of this girl. A great player, but even better person. She thanked me every day as a freshman & still thanks me as a senior. She’s one of a kind🤍
