@dsilver88 Honestly I’m more mad at myself for not realizing before the playoffs how much of a guarantee it was that there gonna win the cup. If it’s gonna torture flyers fans it usually ends up happening.
Listen in as Rod Brind'Amour goes through the handshake line after the @Canes closed out their Second Round #StanleyCup Playoffs series against the @NHLFlyers! 🎤
The answer is very simple.
The Sixers haven’t done a single thing to change fan perspective on this team in years. They don’t give you a reason to be excited. The front office makes baffling move after baffling move(PG, McCain, etc) and the ownership group is despised. Jojo, Tyrese and VJ are loved but no one else moves the needle.
The Flyers had the exact same playoff run and received a standing ovation at the end. The building was packed with fans less than 24 hours earlier. It’s because fans see a light at the end of the tunnel. They see a path forward and have faith in their franchise to climb back up the mountain.
The Sixers need to earn fan’s faith back but I don’t think it’s possible while Josh Harris and Darryl Morey are at the helm.
The 2025-2026 season was a success. A post-Olympic surge most people didn't see coming completely flipped the season. That first round was needed after eight damn years without #Flyers fans in-person for the postseason.
We know Porter Martone is a gamer and they don't reach the postseason (or win Round 1?) without his efforts in limited time. Dan Vladar (team MVP) is the goalie we've been searching for. Trevor Zegras is at worst a productive top six center and should get paid. Jamie Drysdale is only gonna get better and he's become a damn good player. The new young guys in Barkey and Bump delivered. Not gonna mention everyone, but wow, February through now was awesome.
There's no turning back, they need to build on this. Expectations will be higher. Fix the powerplay (David Jiricek time? Another move?), acquire a top-six center (easier said than done), figure out the backup goalie situation, etc. Daniel Briere needs to make more savvy moves. That 2027 TOR pick will be massive.
I'm sure the playoff action MM39 saw was eye-opening and it'll fuel him this offseason. I fully believe Matvei Michkov will come into training camp completely in-shape...he's too important to not have a bigger role next year...him and Martone are the only gamebreaking talent we drafted during the dark years (not counting a certain someone). It's on Daniel Briere, Keith Jones, and Rick to figure this out. We all gotta stop talking about this eventually.
LET'S GO FLYERS.
Real talk, Michkov has not been good but maybe put him in positions to succeed.
TK, Foerster and the whole PP1 has been atrocious and invisible as well.
Dont see them getting that treatment.
Bump, Barkey, Martone and Vladar were the only ones who showed up in and sense today
@Flyers_Clips Definitely it was a good run they made it way further then expected. It can’t hurt now to put Luchanko and I would even put Bonk in the lineup just to get a taste of playoff hockey. Also pushing more of the younger guys up the lineup to gain more experience
I know he’s recalled probably because his season in OHL just ended but if Cates is out I’m all for putting him in the lineup. It can’t hurt. Let him get the experience of playoff hockey
