State security forces did everything in their power yesterday to stop the media from covering the Maumu Women Protest at the Buea Gendarmerie. The women are demanding the release of over 50 young people who were arbitrary arrested and have been detained since last weekend. Journalists were brutalised in the process of them covering the protest. https://t.co/tbq7wZHIGO

"I thank the loyalist army, which has shown its patriotism by escorting me to a safe location and is currently ensuring my protection. I will deliver a solemn address in a few moments," Issa Tchiroma Bakary, October 31st, 2025.

Issa Tchiroma Bakary, one of Cameroon’s leading political figures, has denounced what he describes as an “open war against the Cameroonian people.”
Tchiroma claims that two members of his family and his personal cook were kidnapped in Garoua, accusing the regime of resorting to “assassinations, repression, and other abuses” to maintain power.
He expressed gratitude to what he called the “loyalist army” for ensuring his safety and pledged not to rest until what he calls “the people’s victory” is restored.
“All you will succeed in doing is alienating the people even more,” Tchiroma warned, demanding the immediate release of all those “kidnapped or arbitrarily detained.”
He announced that a solemn address to the nation will follow shortly.

Cameroon opposition leader Issa Tchiroma Bakary said on Friday he had been escorted to a secure location by soldiers loyal to him for his protection, a move that could signal a split within the army following a disputed election. https://t.co/Iml9LCp5LF
For those wondering why US Govt hasn't commented on recent elections-recall that White House declared some months back that US will stop commenting on foreign elections. This does not mean that US won't take some other action, but fact is - statements never achieved much.
Re Cameroon - I guess the Biya regime has run this script so many times it's second nature to them. Make sure Biya is declared "winner" by handpicked election commission; intimidate and arrest opposition figures who protest; wait out public outrage; start over. Eight times now!
Here are other members of Cameroun’s Parliament from Southern Cameroons who dared to speak after out Hon. Joseph Wirba against the brutal massacres and genocide in #Ambazonia have faced severe consequences under #DictatorPaulBiya’s regime. Many, like Hon. Paulinus Jua and Hon. Andrew Nkea, were hunted down, arrested, dismissed, or forced into hiding for condemning the atrocities and standing up for the truth. This is the price of truth in Cameroon—a nation determined to silence anyone exposing its heinous crimes and impunity.
Cameroon’s latest target is Dr. Cho Ayaba, who was unjustly detained by Norwegian authorities—an act showing Cameroon’s insidious influence and the complicity of international powers. This is not an isolated incident; it is part of a calculated and systematic campaign by Cameroon, supported by international allies, to crush human rights activists, freedom fighters, and defenders of justice. Those who advocate for the oppressed, who stand for the people’s right to self-determination, and who challenge this brutal annexation, are being hunted, jailed, or exiled.
We demand the international community end this shameful collusion. The world must take a firm stand against Cameroon’s tyranny and uphold the principles enshrined in the UN Charter. The right to self-determination is non-negotiable, and the right of a people to form their own government and defend themselves against oppression is fundamental. The international community must break its silence, condemn Cameroon’s crimes, and act decisively to protect the lives and freedoms of the Ambazonian people. Anything less is complicity
JUSTICE FOR DR CHO AYABA!
RELEASE HIM NOW!!

We spent 7 years in our own pool of blood pleading with them to grant us audience, but the ditched us and indirectly told us our lives do not matter. In the coming months, they will fly across the globe to seek our audience, but they will never have any. Talking time is over. We are done playing their dirty politics at the expense of the lives of #Ambazonia women and children and those of Biafra
