My last major project as a senior in college (15+ years ago) was on chronic Lyme disease and the CDC's refusal to acknowledge its existence.

The downstream impacts of the CDC's philosophy are vast, including providing cover for insurance companies to refuse to pay for the extensive treatment and care chronic Lyme sufferers often require.

If you have lived in the Northeast for any amount of time, you've almost certainly seen at least one person get absolutely wrecked by Lyme. I personally know at least 5.
