@julianzelizer#history is a vast learning system. Why do conservative / status quo group dynamics in societies always - without exception - reach for austerity as a mechanism when reach and / or power of that dynamic diminishes?
Because #austerity begets #authoritarianism. It is that simple.
@CCPFelix Pest control. I don’t really get pvp, pve is more my thing. Figuring out how to run a mission, experimenting with combat sites, if there’s an npc I’m on it.
This is a fascinating read👇. It is often assumed (including by Americans) that US innovation has been driven almost entirely by the private sector and low levels of regulation. In fact, it has often been driven by huge govt investment through the likes of DARPA & NASA
@gelliottmorris@BrightLineWatch Most of that would quickly go bankrupt, sliding towards feudalism and even worse. This would after all be breaking up the transfer union. The math there is really brutal.
@EVE_Virt@katecrawford@ABillionSuns I had to think there for a moment. But yeah, overtly. Now the commentaries during STOA make sense. Untethered sovereign power. Indeed.
@EVE_Virt@jackiekcalmes Well media seem to be the most deciding, or maybe defining, power there, particularly where they are extensions of policy institute ecosystems. We don’t have anything like that here.
@EVE_Virt@jackiekcalmes He’s not wrong, tbh. That is politics / government though, reminds me a lot of the UK with the Brexit drama. Normative values = deconstruction, decay.
