Het is onze missie om de grote ongelijkheden in radiotherapie voor kinderen wereldwijd te verkleinen. Kennis en opleiding vormen daarbij een essentieel onderdeel.

Vandaag heb ik in Utrecht 🇳🇱 een overeenkomst ondertekend tussen de @IAEAorg en het Prinses Máxima Centrum voor Kinderoncologie @prinsesmaximac, met als doel de praktische kennis over het gebruik van radiotherapie bij de behandeling van kinderen met kanker te versterken.

Via deze samenwerking, en in het kader van het #RaysOfHope-initiatief van de IAEA, werken we aan het vergroten van de toegang tot veilige en effectieve zorg voor kinderen met kanker wereldwijd en aan het dichten van de bestaande kloof.

Ik ben dankbaar voor de sterke samenwerking met Hare Majesteit Koningin Máxima van @koninklijkhuis en met Chief Máxima International Rob Pieters. Ik kijk ernaar uit om dit belangrijke werk samen verder te brengen.

A new chapter for nuclear law education.

Six universities — @AlexU_Edu_Eg 🇪🇬, @iencnen 🇧🇷, @KhalifaUni 🇦🇪, @UBAonline 🇦🇷, @UWImona 🇯🇲 and @WitsUniversity 🇿🇦 — are now offering postgraduate courses in nuclear law through the @IAEAorg University Partnership Programme.

Congratulations to our partner institutions for launching these programmes and helping train the next generation of experts in the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear energy.

I congratulate the UK 🇬🇧 in joining the Convention on Supplementary Compensation for Nuclear Damage. As the first Party to the Paris Convention to do so, its membership – effective 1 January 2026 – represents an important step on the road to achieving a global nuclear liability regime.

During the night of 13-14 Feb, at around 01:50, IAEA team at the Chornobyl site heard an explosion coming from the New Safe Confinement, which protects the remains of reactor 4 of the former Chornobyl NPP, causing a fire. They were informed that a UAV had struck the NSC roof.
