Great @Health_Affairs podcast with @joefigs2 on his recent article around the development of integrated plans for dual eligible patients
For anyone looking to learn a bunch about the dual eligible population this is a 20 mins well spent👍🏻 https://t.co/AQRy5r3a2O
@chrissyfarr Agreed, though it depends on who gets the medications and at what point in their disease trajectory. I think we need to know a lot more about whether/how patients can step down off these medications and maintain effects
Mind boggling the yearly cost of GLP-1/GIP drugs across the US via @chrissyfarr newsletter
100M potentially eligible x $16,000 per pt/year= $1.6T
“To put the $1.6 trillion into perspective, it’s more than twice as much as total public spending on K-12 schools”

Fascinating abstract at #SGIM23 on effect of $400 monthly cash payments x 9 months to people in Chelsea (=25% increase in average household income) in 2020-2021. ~2k lotteried to intervention, ~1k who applied but didn’t get were control.
@MaxJordan_N@cirseiu Not really related to your comment, but I remember running to a code in the Cath lab grabbing the first lead that I saw and someone telling me that I couldn’t wear that person’s lead 🤯, then proceeded to put it on and run the code while the team placed a balloon pump
I would anticipate that this trend in Medicare Advantage growth will continue until it basically mirrors the economic segmentation of seniors
It’s worth remembering that only 20% of seniors have more than $60,000 in total sources of income per year via @KFF and @uscensusbureau

You cannot read this chart without reflecting on the reality that policies that promote public safety saves lives, we did it with seat belts and we need to do it with firearms plain and simple - Gun Control is #publichealth
So inspiring to hear about the research and work of many fellow @BrighamMedRes alums, particularly @joefigs2 on the pressing need to better address the complex needs of Dual Eligible Americans 👏🏻
Powerful words from @Surgeon_General on the importance of physicians’ empathy, humanity, and advocacy for patients amidst currents of loneliness, burnout, misaligned incentives, and the expansion of technology into medical care

This study from @ShreyaTrivediMD highlights what I would expect is a much broader issue in Hospital Discharges
Our expediency and efforts to discharge patients often comes at the cost of patient education and addressing patients’ questions https://t.co/ycZ61Nhsmc
