9:03 - United Airlines Flight 175 hit the South Tower at 9:03 a.m.🛩️

9:37 - American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon in Virginia🛩️

10:03 - United Airlines Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 10:03 a.m., after passengers attempted to regain control.🛩️

Al-Qaeda was Led by Osama Bin Laden, but the attack was orchestrated by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and Ramzi bin al-Shibh, a key coordinator. — both were secretly held by the CIA and moved to Guantánamo.

The attackers entered the country legally and attended U.S. flight schools before carrying out the attacks, by exploiting weaknesses in America’s aviation and intelligence systems.

The WTC attacks sent at least 200 people falling or jumping from the towers, often in groups. None survived. Firefighters trapped in the elevators also died when the towers collapsed.

Asides the 2,977 fatalities, thousands were injured, many survivors and first responders later suffered illnesses linked to toxic exposure.

The 9/11 attack was a success for Osama bin Laden, U.S. reacted as predicted, they pushed propaganda and recruited more terrorists. — But, strategically it was catastrophic for Osama and Al-Qaeda.

The U.S. invaded Afghanistan less than a month after 9/11, launching a brutal war against the Taliban government for harboring bin Laden and al-Qaeda.

The U.S. and its allies relentlessly hunted al-Qaeda, overthrowing the Taliban government for sheltering bin Laden and disrupting the group’s leadership and infrastructure.

Bin Laden was forced into hiding until May 2, 2011, when U.S. Navy SEAL Team Six raided his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan — nearly 10 years after 9/11. After he left Afghanistan disguised as a woman.

The operation, codenamed Operation Neptune Spear, ended with bin Laden’s death. President Barack Obama said he resisted the operation and was shot in the head.

9/11 transformed the world, triggering the War on Terror, the Afghanistan invasion, tighter airport security, expanded surveillance and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security.
