Today, we hosted a team from @NLinKenya through the #Future4Binti programme in Narok County. We visited our local implementing partner @AfyAfrika, the Gender Technical Working Group and the community champions.
The visit gave us a chance to exchange ideas on strengthening programme implementation and explore future collaborative initiatives.

📍#Somalia: Nearly 2 million children are facing acute malnutrition, while conflict, displacement and drought continue to push families deeper into crisis.
Yet this WFP warehouse stands empty, and @WFP_Somalia teams can barely support 1 in 10 people in acute need.
More support is urgently needed to help avert catastrophe.
AFRICA FOOD SYSTEMS FORUM 2026, A PLATFORM FOR THE AGRICULTURE WE WANT TO BUILD
Agriculture is no longer simply a way of life, it is becoming a dynamic business sector driven by innovation, technology, investment, entrepreneurship, and knowledge.
As Africa works to build stronger and more resilient food systems, we need farmers who can turn opportunities into viable enterprises, young people who see agriculture as a career and investment opportunity, innovators developing practical solutions, and investors willing to support ideas that can transform communities.
That is why I am proud to be part of the conversation around #AFSForum2026, taking place in Kigali, Rwanda, from 31 August to 4 September 2026.
Under the theme “Investing in Africa’s Agri-Food Systems: Nourishing Nations, Growing Jobs, Building Resilience,” the Forum will bring together leaders, farmers, businesses, investors, youth, researchers, innovators, and other food-system actors from Africa and beyond.
For me, this is more than an event. It is an opportunity to ask important questions:
👉 How can we make agriculture more profitable for farmers?
👉 How can we unlock more investment and finance for agri-food businesses?
👉 How can innovation and technology create opportunities for Africa’s young people?
👉 How do we build food systems that are productive, sustainable, inclusive, and resilient?
The farmers of tomorrow will not only grow crops and raise livestock, they will build enterprises, create jobs, drive economies, and shape more resilient food systems.
The future of African agriculture will be built through action, investment, innovation, and partnerships.

Do you know how much an acre of groundnuts yield?
Groundnut farming requires warm climates (25°C to 30°C), well-drained sandy loam soils, and 500–600 mm of rainfall. Plant certified seeds 5 cm deep at the start of the rains, spacing rows 30–45 cm apart. Harvest after 3 to 4.5 months when leaves turn yellow.
Many farmers push harder every season, more fertilizer, more ploughing, more effort, yet yields continue to decline. Why?
Because productivity does not start with seeds. It starts with soil health.
When soil loses organic matter, it loses structure, moisture retention, and biological life. Crops struggle not because they lack chemicals, but because the soil ecosystem is weak.
Regenerative Agriculture changes this mindset. Instead of forcing the land to produce, we restore it. Through mulching, composting, reduced tillage, crop diversity, and proper grazing management, farmers rebuild soil fertility naturally.
Under the RA–PURE initiative of the Power for Food Partnership (P4FP), farmers are learning that long-term productivity depends on regeneration, not exploitation.
You cannot harvest abundance from exhausted land.
But you can regenerate it, and harvest sustainably for years to come.
