AIPAC Statement On U.S. Strikes On Iran’s Nuclear Program

President Trump has taken historic and decisive action against the Iranian nuclear program, which has been a longtime threat to the security of the United States and the peace of the world. This justified action was taken as Iran was on the verge of acquiring a nuclear weapon and after the Iranian regime rejected President Trump’s repeated diplomatic efforts to peacefully resolve this crisis. The IAEA recently determined Iran was materially violating its nonproliferation obligations.

We commend our heroic American troops who carried out this operation.

President Trump’s principled decision to dismantle the Iranian nuclear program with strikes on Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan is profoundly in America’s interests. Iran is responsible for countless deaths of Americans, and a regime that threatens “Death to America” must not have a nuclear weapon. A nuclear-armed Iran would pose a grave danger to U.S. forces across the region, trigger a regional nuclear arms race, and pose an existential threat to our most reliable ally, Israel.

For decades, Democrats and Republicans in Congress have led the charge to ensure Iran can never acquire a nuclear weapons capability. We express our deep appreciation to the scores of Senators and Representatives who worked across the aisle to provide Israel with critical security assistance and to impose strong economic and diplomatic pressure on the regime. These bipartisan initiatives made stopping Iran’s quest for a bomb a consensus issue in America.

America must now work with our allies to protect our troops and regional interests against Iranian attacks. We urge bipartisan support for this action by American troops and continued support for our Israeli ally.

The IDF confirms it has launched an aerial campaign against Iran's nuclear program.

Dozens of targets across Iran related to the nuclear program and other military facilities are being struck by the Israeli Air Force, it says.

The operation is dubbed "Strength of a Lion."

The IDF says Iran has enough enriched uranium to build several bombs within days, and it needs to act against this "imminent threat."

Sirens that sounded across Israel a short while ago were a preemptive warning issued by the IDF, ahead of a possible reaction by Iran.

On October 7th 2023, the nation of Israel awoke, just to find ourselves in the nightmare of a brutal attack – children, women and men were murdered, burned, sexually assaulted or dragged into Gaza to be held hostage in tunnels, by the Palestinian terrorist organization, Hamas.

The peaceful communities, the site of a music festival, the agricultural lands – the beautiful region of southern Israel, was scorched by bloodthirsty murderers with only one wish in their hearts – the total destruction and annihilation of Israel.

The very next day October 8th, another Iranian proxy Hezbollah, opened fire on Israel. Since then, Israel has been fighting a war in defense of her people – a war against enemies on 7 different fronts.

Today more than ever, we carry a deep commitment to continue taking every measure necessary to defeat our enemies and to defend our homeland.

As a nation, it is our duty to do everything possible to ensure the return of the hostages to Israel, to support those who are wounded in body or soul, to remember and be worthy of the legacy of our fallen troops, to tell the stories of the lives and deaths of our heroes, and to fight courageously in this just war.

We will ensure the safe return of our people to their homes. We will rehabilitate and rebuild the regions of our country that have been affected – both in southern and northern Israel.

On this painful day, more than ever, we are eternally committed to the security and continuity of the State of Israel and her people.

This State Department report recognizes that Israel is confronting an unprecedented military battlefield, is not misusing American-origin equipment, and is not prohibiting or restricting U.S. humanitarian aid from entering Gaza as mandated by section 620I of the Foreign Assistance Act. 

There is no reason for critical arms shipments to Israel to be delayed. The administration must immediately reverse its pause and provide our ally the resources it needs to win this war against Hamas and confront the growing dangers from Iran and Hezbollah.

This war that Hamas started by breaking a ceasefire on October 7 has caused terrible suffering and tragedies, for both Israelis and Palestinians. The IDF is a moral army fighting a terror group employing despicable, unprecedented tactics deliberately designed to cause death for Palestinians and destruction in Gaza.

This terrible war ends if Hamas surrenders and free the hostages. Noble efforts to broker a 6-week pause in fighting to free hostages and surge aid require increased pressure on Hamas.
