These constituencies don't have MPs:
โข Banisa Constituency: 22 months
โข Magarini Constituency: 8 months
โข Ugunja Constituency: 5 months
โข Several wards don't have their Members of County Assemblies.
Representation is a constitutional right enshrined in chapter 7 of the Constitution of Kenya.
Delimitation of boundaries in electoral units is a constitutional order under article 82 of the Constitution of Kenya.
An electoral unit (Constituency or Ward) that is not enjoying legislative representation has every reason to sue the government for discrimination, alienation, and underrepresentation.
Why can't voters from these electoral units go to court and demand the dissolution of parliament for failing to facilitate a free, fair, and credible electoral process for them to elect their MPs and MCAs?
How are the voices in these electoral units part of national or county public participation in the sharing of the national cake?
This level of indifference and deadness is why politicians are insulting us, demeaning us, and treating us like garbage.
โ because they think we are docile, aloof, and stupid.
We clap for them, cheer them, and defend them as they abuse our collective intelligence.
Indeed, we are FOOLISH.

Subject: Rejection of the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2024
Dear Clerk of the Senate,
I am writing to firmly oppose the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which seeks to extend the term of office for Members of Parliament, the President, and County Governors from five years to seven years.
Article 1 of the Constitution of Kenya clearly states that sovereign power belongs to the people, and they exercise this power directly through regular, free, and fair elections. Extending the term of elected leaders undermines this principle, reducing the frequency with which the people can hold their leaders accountable. The current five-year term already allows sufficient time for the implementation of policies, while also ensuring timely accountability.
Many democratic nations, such as the United States (four years) and South Africa (five years), maintain shorter terms for their Presidents to ensure accountability and prevent potential abuse of power. Extending Kenyaโs presidential term risks weakening governance structures by reducing the public's ability to exercise electoral oversight.
Additionally, Article 255 of the Constitution states that amendments that touch on the term of office of the President require a referendum. This amendment should not bypass the peopleโs direct involvement, as it fundamentally alters the governance and democratic processes established by the Constitution.
For these reasons, I strongly urge Parliament to reject this bill and uphold the democratic values enshrined in our Constitution.
Yours sincerely,
