Today, the gap between $SATS ( $ECHO ) and $SPCX widened again.

At the current SPCX share price, the implied NAV of SATS is roughly $200 per share, while SATS is currently trading at around $100.

The DOJ public comment period ended on June 18, and I expect the court to formally issue its order within the next few days. Three business days after that order is issued, the AT&T transaction should close.

After the AT&T sale, even after paying down debt, taxes, and escrow-related obligations, SATS should still be left with roughly $7–8 billion of cash on hand.

Given that the stock is trading at around half of NAV, I think there is a high probability that Ergen — the founder who owns more than 51% of the company — will choose to repurchase shares.

Coincidentally, the company has already authorized a $2 billion share repurchase program.
