Trail arm mechanics in the swing are interesting. Humeral adduction, ER, forearm supination, and right side bend (RH Hitter) contribute to getting the barrel on plane. Some hitters use more of one move, many use a combination of all
Great point right here. Attempting to imitate the barrels reaction to a prior position isnโt wise. The barrel will pitch back naturally if itโs set up to do so. Manufacturing this motion via rotating the upper arms or forearms (independently) is miss leading
I love to see visuals like this. At no point in either arc is the knob and barrel moving forward at the same rate. I see a lot of drills currently that promote dragging the handle forward in an effort to maintain direction through middle. Not ideal
Statcast bat tracking -- Luis Arraez's swing on his opposite-field leadoff single vs. Fernando Tatis Jr.'s swing on his moonshot home run
Arraez: Low bat speed, short swing
Tatis: High bat speed, long swing
@hossjob Exactly! At some point the knob has to stop and exit towards the hitters pull side so the barrel can release properly and work through impact. I see a lot of โpath workโ drills and misconceptions about impact that inhibit this action
Macen Collura (โ26, LV) having a solid day at the plate with 2 base knocks including a loud triple down LF line. Strong athlete for size w/ good feel for barrel and juice to the pull side #EastMLK@PG_Uncommitted
Very talented Sophomore playing down in Fort Myers this weekend. Macen Collura, Faith Lutheran HS โ26. Easy juice sitting 92+ EV tonight with a Baum bat. Have seen a lot of good HS kids over the years. This is one of the most impressive
Although this one is actually brand new out of the box, here is todayโs old school hitting equipment triviaโฆ
Anyone still hitting with one of these??
Extremely excited to be joining the Rays organization! Has proven to be a leader in player development over the years. Very much looking forward to this opportunity
One of the smartest baseball minds Iโve ever been around and a main reason why I got my 1st professional coaching opportunity. Congratulations Donnie. Earned it ๐๐ผ
