🍥 This hypnotic wind-flow pattern continues for hundreds of kilometres from its source at Mt Taranaki - Von Kármán vortices!
💫 "Vortices" is the arguably cooler-sounding plural of "vortex" which refers to some rotating fluid/air.
🗻 Here we see the southerly wind splitting around both sides of the mountain. Friction slows down the layer of air in contact with the mountain more than the air further away, causing a spin in the flow that creates eddies/whirls.
🔄 These eddies alternate forming on either side of the mountain and continue to spin downstream over a huge distance before dissipating. If there are clouds at the right height like today, we can visualise this beautiful flow pattern.

(0/25) Here's a list of 25 YC companies that have trained their own AI models. Reading through these will give you a good sense of what the near future will look like.
Have you ever done a dense grid search over neural network hyperparameters? Like a *really dense* grid search? It looks like this (!!). Blueish colors correspond to hyperparameters for which training converges, redish colors to hyperparameters for which training diverges.
