Between the main mirror and the #MicroMirror project, I figure I've spent about $16,000 on hardware, so if you ever wonder how free software is all available to download and is still fast, it's because of jokers like me and the rest of the MicroMirror team.
The RAID under https://t.co/Fpd8tQOnqB is out of space, so I just dropped $1300 on another six 16TB disks to fill out the chassis.
Same deal as on the first batch; the first 6 to send us $320 and their names get their name on one of the drives. https://t.co/AKvpdJ1Yxh
@thekurtwk Our smallest appliance is a HP T620 with a 1GbaseT port on it. We only seen a single unicast IP address and transit (i.e. /31 or shared subnet) and the boxes typically do 1-3TB/day egress. We do ask that you have "real" transit, so no home ISP. Start a thread with [email protected]
Calling ISP/DC operators who want to support #Linux / #foss !
The @AlmaLinux project has done a mirror coverage analysis and have identified south Texas as a weak spot in their download mirror coverage in North America.
Of course, we're interested in #MicroMirror hosts anywhere else in the US or internationally as well. Things have been going well for MicroMirror, I'm just only posting about it over on Mastodon. https://t.co/ytEClSJRn8
If anyone in the San Antonio/Austin/Houston area have spare bandwidth, please consider standing up a mirror, or if you don't have the ability, consider contacting me to send you a managed #MicroMirror appliance; we ship you a small server to plug in, and we fully manage it.
@rootpoint@TracketPacer Don't do this. We're not rigid about checking entitlement before helping with an issue, but only because people don't tend to abuse it. We apply more latitude to grey market gear when the customer is waiting on delivery of an order of supported gear.
@TracketPacer@er4hn_tech Did you try running ptp4l with the -S software timestamping flag? Or do you know for a fact that your NIC supports hardware timestamping?
@MarkusLandgraf @JesseJenkins The three hour ramp rate in net demand when the sun is setting would beg to differ on the need for power over energy in California.
Fun Arista EOS facts! Some Arista platforms actually support dumping a raw eye chart from the individual phy lanes if you really want to drive yourself nuts chasing L1 issues.
@BobKerns@TracketPacer I normally use it to troubleshoot if the issue is with the optic modulator, line loss, or line dispersion so we know what hardware to focus on for flapping links.
