जिन लोगों को पुलिस माँ की गालियां दे रही हैं, बेरहमी से सड़क पर घसीट रही है और लठिया बरसा रही है, वे भारत देश के छात्र हैं, देश के युवा हैं, और 'जन-गण-मन' का जन है।

आज जो मिडिल-क्लास की आँख खुली है, तो शायद इसलिए कि उन्हें पहली बार एहसास हुआ है कि यह सरकार उनकी भी नहीं है और सरकार उनके बच्चों को भी नहीं बख्शेगी। लेकिन यह एहसास बहुत देर से आया है।

इतने सालों से इस देश के दलित, आदिवासी और माइनॉरिटी गला फाड़-फाड़कर अपनी आवाज़ उठा रहे थे। वे सवाल पूछ रहे थे, संविधान और अपने अधिकारों की बात कर रहे थे, सड़कों पर आंदोलन कर रहे थे।

जब दलितों, आदिवासियों और माइनॉरिटीज़ को लिंच किया जा रहा था, उनके घरों पर बुलडोज़र चलाए जा रहे थे, उन्हें निशाना बनाया जा रहा था और उनकी आवाज़ को दबाया जा रहा था, तब अगर मिडिल-क्लास ने उनके साथ खड़े होकर सवाल पूछे होते, तो शायद आज यह स्थिति देखने की नौबत नहीं आती।

अन्याय कभी सिर्फ़ एक समुदाय तक सीमित नहीं रहता। जब आप दूसरों के अधिकारों पर होते हमलों पर चुप रहते हैं, तो वही ख़ामोशी सत्ता को और बेलगाम बना देती है। आज जो अन्याय उनके साथ हो रहा है, कल वही आपके दरवाज़े पर भी दस्तक देता है।

none of this is sudden. these are all problems years in the making. people were warning, screaming. but they were ignored.

now the polycrisis are converging-- India needs a sobering conversation, not denial. There needs to be a broader conversation how we squandered the demographic advantage & are on the brink now!

There has to be a national vision of renewal. But any talk of renewal has to first acknowledge that we f*cked up. Do the political class & savarna elites have the stomach to admit that?

नजीब अहमद के मामले में राउज एवेन्यू कोर्ट ने केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो (CBI) को केस बंद करने की अनुमति दे दी है। कोर्ट ने CBI की क्लोजर रिपोर्ट स्वीकार कर ली है। बता दें कि CBI ने यह रिपोर्ट साल 2018 में दाखिल की थी, जिसमें कहा गया था कि नजीब की तलाश में कोई ठोस सुराग नहीं मिल सका।

ये मामला केवल एक गुमशुदगी नहीं है, ये भारतीय लोकतंत्र, जांच एजेंसियों की कार्यप्रणाली, और एक अल्पसंख्यक छात्र की सुरक्षा की सामूहिक विफलता की मिसाल बन चुका है। 8 साल तक देश की सबसे बड़ी जांच एजेंसी एक छात्र का पता नहीं लगा पाई।

* SC/ST अत्याचार निवारण अधिनियम के तहत सख़्त धाराओं में मुकदमा चलाया जाए।
* पीड़िता को सरकारी सुरक्षा, मेडिकल सुविधा और उचित मुआवजा दिया जाए।
