Good Morning Patriots ๐บ๐ธ
Happy Sunday to you! ๐
๐ The flag still waves. The church bells still ring. The same sun that rose over Galilee this morning is rising over this land too. And the same King who walked the shoreline then still reigns now. โ๏ธ ๐บ๐ธ
Jesus Christ is King!
This nation has been blessed beyond measure. Freedom of worship. The right to gather. The liberty to open a Bible in public and declare that Jesus is Lord. Those gifts did not come from Washington. They came from the hand of God. And they remain only as long as we remember who actually sits on the throne.
On this Lordโs Day, hear the old story again.
Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee when He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and Andrew, casting a net into the lake. They were fishermen. Ordinary men. Calloused hands. Tired backs. Nets that had come up empty more nights than they cared to count.
He said to them, โFollow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.โ
Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.
A little farther He saw James and John in a boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. He called them too. They left the boat and their father and followed Him.
That is the sermon!
Not a complicated one. Not a polished one.
Just this:
The King of the universe did not begin His earthly ministry in a palace or a seminary. He began it on a dirty shoreline with working men who smelled like fish. He did not first recruit the impressive. He recruited the available. Men who knew how to keep going out even when the nets came back empty. Men who understood persistence, early mornings, and the difference between a good catch and a wasted night.
Then He took the only skill they had and redeemed it.
โYou know how to fish for fish,โ He said in effect. โNow I will teach you to fish for souls.โ
They dropped everything. Immediately. No three-year plan. No committee vote. No โlet me think about it.โ The King spoke, and fishermen became apostles.
That same voice is still speaking.
Your nets may feel empty right now. The culture may feel hostile. The country may feel divided. Your own strength may feel small. None of that changes the identity of the One who is calling!
Christ is still King!
He is still walking the shoreline of ordinary lives. He is still looking for people who will leave the familiar boat and follow. He is still turning fishermen into fishers of men.
The harvest has not changed. It is still plentiful. The laborers are still few.
The King has already spoken. The commission has already been given. The same Jesus who filled empty nets on the lake is still able to fill empty lives today.
America needs fishermen again. Not just patriots who love the flag, but disciples who love the King more than the flag. Not just people who sing โGod Bless America,โ but people who will actually go into the streets, the workplaces, the neighborhoods, and the hard conversations and cast the net.
The nets are waiting!
The shoreline is right in front of you!
Be fishers of men!
Letโs go ๐ฅ
Friends, I just prayed at the tomb of Blessed Fulton Sheen in Peoria, in the very cathedral where he was ordained a priest. It's been beautiful to see people streaming here after the Mass and Vespers this week. This great preacher, evangelist, and man of the Holy Hour belongs to the whole Church now. Please God, someday soon we'll call him St. Fulton Sheen.
Next stop is Rome. Say a prayer for us as we travel.
I have undertaken this project to put a face to 9/11 by posting a photo of everyone killed that day. If after everything that happened you can vote for the ideology that brought it about it's as if you are killing them yourself! Pictured below was 38 year old Lawrence.Beck who was a mailroom clerk at Cantor Fitzgerald in the North Tower. It was said of him that he loved spending time with his nieces, sending cards to people and watching his favorite team the New York Mets. He especially loved his job because it gave him a chance to talk to his coworkers and to forget even one of these people is a blasphemy!
@pitbullpatriot3 Pax et Bonum. ๐๐ซถI also lost my Harley who is outside my porch in my butterfly garden. I know. I know your loss!! I am so very sorry.
Little Octave, almost two years old and hospitalized since birth, was taken outside the hospital for the first time to meet Pope Leo XIV in Paris. The Pope blessed the little boy during the touching encounter.
