@ViralCarmichael @ZJAyres I feel like that's a nice way to summarize the problem. If it was written/marketed as forbidden romance it would be better since its at least partially addressing the problem of power dynamics. Instead its written/marketed as cute
So I rant about how bad a premise this book is a lot but don't usually have these stats to back it up. Read it if you like but I really don't think fake dating a professor - who is known as a jerk to his students according to the synopsis - is something to romanticize/glorify

I criticize academia because I expected a lot more from academia.
I can't tell you how many times I've asked, "Is this it? Why is there so much hype?"
