@JolyonMaugham In football terms, they're parking the bus.
The objective now is likely to hold out for as long as possible in order to protect any gains made for their team from past decisions!
Will be interesting to see if the opposition support, in effect, by hanging back.
@JolyonMaugham I do think Labour are missing a trick, while the Conservatives are playing tricks . Labour, in the old fashioned sense, is increasingly being replaced by automation and that trend is likely to continue with labour shortages. The professions are also at risk.
Come again? π
"The rate of return if you do something really cheap (my project was <500k) that affects hundreds of millions of people and trillions of dollars is greater than any VC bet." @VCBrags@ParikPatelCFA@rabois
@balajis Current Governance models are poisoned with powerful "self-interests" at their core whichever flavour you choose or get, can your suggested flavour resist that poison? I'm not sure it's that easy. I like the idea though.
@JolyonMaugham@Scaramucci Summed it up well Jo, it's all about control. Hit the nail on the head with 'good chap' theory, which is rife in the UK and dangerous.
@aedmans No system (to improve outcomes) will work if the Governance (at leadership level) is broke and led by misrepresented evidence, except by fluke maybe.
@twobitidiot If it's working right (without evil intent), the pessimists and optimists would operate in harmony. Progress without ruin. Progress with loss (as in nature) along the way is okay, as those losses can be recovered for as long as the optimists are able to grow.
@jaffathecake@cdixon Hey, has anyone tried "nfts are" in the Google search box to look at the suggestions? Lol. Probably just me getting the wacko ones.
@MConnollyittm I think two critical things have contributed somewhat.
1. Top partners under pressure to maintain Β£1MM+ incomes.
2. Legal liability and responsibility limitation clauses in audit contracts, to shift responsibility to clients.
Effectively, less 'value' for same or higher price.
@JolyonMaugham Through the courts?
I imagine most of the "excess" money will be offshore after being cycled through chains of entities.
That's historically been an issue for claiming back.
@balajis@elonmusk No, @mlevchin by the looks of it. Fraud detection is underrated (and a challenge to prove), but the economic damages due to fraud in business are immense.
