Do people want longer lifespans, or just healthspan? Should longevity advocates avoid “life extension,” or lean into it?

I just published a preprint exploring this, drawing on mythology & modern data, & what it means for advancing longevity research.

Today is International Longevity Day.
At Lifespan Research Institute, we’re working toward a future where growing older doesn’t have to mean an ever-increasing burden of disease.

That future won’t come from a single discovery. It takes an ecosystem.

At LRI, we work across that ecosystem to drive the field forward on multiple fronts:
📰 Educating through thousands of articles and resources
📈 Catalyzing millions in longevity biotech investment
🔬 Translating research toward the clinic
🤝 Building tools, advocacy & collaborations

With your support, we can do even more, from expanding our Rejuvenation Roadmap and advancing therapies targeting mitochondrial dysfunction and senescent cells, to developing digital biomarkers that can help us better measure human aging and building the connections that turn promising science into real-world impact.

At a time when the future is so often defined by what may go wrong, we believe it’s worth investing in what can go right.

If you believe a healthier future is worth building, stand with LRI this International Longevity Day.
