Ending cholera will need stronger water and sanitation systems, better outbreak monitoring, wider vaccine access, and closer links between lab and climate data. This work was made possible with support from @IDeAL_KEMRI_WT and @SSACABProgramme
Kenya is still battling cholera despite decades of research. In our new preprint (https://t.co/gZuKDoxSXp), we bring together 106 studies published from 1979-2024 to show what is known, where evidence is missing, and how science can help end future outbreaks.
Cholera remains a major threat: over 12,000 cases and 200 deaths in 2022β2024. Outbreaks continue because many lack safe water and sanitation, tracking is weak, and floods or droughts spark crises. Rapid tests and genetic tracking show spread, but most labs cannot use these tools

@medrxivpreprint Honoured to have contributed to this exciting work! A step forward in understanding #Plasmodium#falciparum antimalarial resistance, and I can't wait to see how these findings will shape the surveillance of drug resistance
@JacobTref@Kat_a_Collins Congratulations @Kat_a_Collins on this remarkable feat, and to the countless others including those at the @KEMRI_Wellcome who made this possible.
Hereβs to saving lives and eradicating malaria π₯³ππ
@AshenafiA @camille_morg @IDEELlabs@jonbparr Congratulations Ashenafi! Here's to hoping it becomes a widely used point of care tool in the near future.
